Crystal was great, when it comes to skiing it is on par with any place I have been to. Had a powder day on Monday, visibility wasn't the best but it was still fun and then a perfect bluebird day yesterday. It is a place any avid skier needs to check out.

Any recs on where to stay in Vail for next season? Is it worth it to pay a little more and stay in the village. Found a pretty good deal on a little condo next to Golden Peak lift. TIA

looking at the same thing. I went to Lion Square Lodge previously and the location was great for ski/in ski/out right next to the Arrabelle. Right now I'm looking at Lodge Towers, Vail Manor along with Lion Square Lodge as I am looking for a place that has a kitchen and can sleep 4 adults and 3 kids.

Antlers is another I'm looking at which is in Lionshead.

Nice. We ended up pulling the trigger on the one right by the Golden Peak lift. It claims to be in the village and walking distance to lifts. I think it was around 300/night which isn't bad for vail. Nothing super fancy but it'll get the job done . It's called All Seasons Vail Village.

Correction- it's next to the Riva Bahn chairlift . Looks to be an awesome location. Owner just emailed and said it's only 100 steps or so away from the lift. That'll be nice.

Does anybody have any recommendations for good runs at Snowbird, Winter Park or A-Basin? I know these places are jam packed w amazing runs but was wondering if yall had any favorites. We are headed out there in the next month. Any recommendations for food near Winter Park are also much appreciated.

For WP, I park in the Corona Lot and makes laps off the Challenger chair. The chair is old and slow but it makes for good recovery time. Derailer is the main ridge and there’s a bunch of offshoots from there to keep things interesting. Trestle is a lot of fun and has one gnarley (but short) steep section. It’s all bump runs. The tree run under Super Gauge is also great. The crowds off Pano this year made the runs not worth the effort.

For food, Idlewild Spirits is pretty decent for a small town place.

Hideaway Park brewery is a great little spot. Beer only. But a hot dog place next door you can bring their food into the brewery.

Denos for food at WP. My lady used to work there so it was my hangout spot. Really good food! The Ditch next door is cool too. More bar type grope but a fun place to hang

Did you find it via VRBO? I was getting prices on Vail Manor which is close to the ski school, but just a tad off of Vail Village. A 1 bedroom at Vail Manor was $495 a night and 2 bedroom was $1100 a night. I prefer the price you received.

Peruvian lift to Chip’s run. Avoid tram lines with Peruvian too.

Any run in the Gadzook chairs zone.

Today will be day 1 of 2 at Mt. Bachelor. Open snow said cloudy but sun is out and shining, should be a good one. They extended their season to May 29th in case anyone is interested if May skiing. Crystal goes until May 9th as well

Not that anyone cares but Mrs jkyle got me this really cool hardcover book called "The Man Behind The Map". It pays tribute to James Niehues (the artist that draw almost every ski map you pull up online) and the book haspretty much every map for all the ski resorts in the world. Pretty cool book and gift.

Cloudchaser zone early. As the sun moves across the volcano move with it and you’ll have some fun end of day turns in the Outback zone.

You hit the nail on the head. I started with sunrise/summit but summit was a sheet of ice until late morning. Cloud chaser was good early and met a local on that lift who I ended up skiing the rest of the day with . We took summit to backside/west bowls where the top was a sheet of ice early then way too soft at the bottom. Spent most of the rest of the day by northwest or in the east bowls off summit. I was struggling to turn near the bases of the lower lifts around 1230pm and it only got softer as the day moved on.

Great day, working on that goggle tan. I will say Bachelor is set up beautifully where you can traverse and get to any side of the mountain pretty easily. Friendly people here as well

Welp. Broke my wrist and my season is over. Caught an edge at 45. Looked uphill where trails merged. Caught some slush in the ungroomed part between the two trails. Slowed me down enough such that I lost my balance and caught an edge. I did get 32 days in this year though.
