Was at Snowmass today all day after 8 inches recorded this morning.
Why didn't you head to the Highlands for the powder day?

Made it back from Jackson Hole after 3 days skiing and had an excellent trip.

5", 20", and 11" were the 24 hr snowfall totals for each of the past 3 days, meaning tons of fresh snow all over the mountain. Guys I was with (friend's bachelor party) were from back east so they had never skied mountain west powder. I probably killed their legs but we explored the entire mountain and they were thanking me for being a tourguide (had only been there once before). Kings and Queens of Corbet's was going on earlier in the week but Shaun White and others were still around town this weekend.

Just a great weekend, I'll post some pics when I get a chance this week

Sun somehow prevailed at Heavenly today, but all of the upper lifts were closed due to wind. Still a great day to ski. Thanks Cuse for coaching me up on travel last weekend!

I was at Heavenly the same day

Thurs conditions were pretty good and mountain wasn't too crowded
Fri conditions were worse (super windy) but got lucky and I think everyone was on the CA side, NV was way less crowded
SAT best conditions but holy hell was it packed

Vail last month had 50% less people easy.

It was my first time at Heavenly/Tahoe. I enjoyed it, the views of the lake are insane but CO is just so much easier for me to get to/from coming from the east coast.

We need some of that in the Pac NW.

Spent the weekend at Clear lake and I skied at Hoodoo. Base is almost a 100" now after decent snow this past week.

Wow

How’s the reindeer? Those are some foul smelling animals. Hopefully nothing a little gravy can’t fix.

The Reindeer jerky was really good and tender.
I haven’t psyched myself up to open the can yet.

True. But the Deep Temerity lift at the top of Highlands has some awesome tree runs.

Just wondering why that wasn't your choice.

What are the best ski boot options?

Are the surefoot boots worth the $1k they cost?

My feet suck and the boots make me miserable after 2 days.

Probably only ski twice a year on average, but the foot pain is getting worse the older I get.

I thought Surefoot was the ultimate. After a lot of research, I’ve come to the conclusion it’s more about the boot fitter than the boot or boot system.

First, buy Ultralight ski socks. Check out Darn Tough socks. $20 at REI. Second, check out boot buckling videos on YouTube. Don’t walk around with dangling buckles. Keep them buckled but not snug on the walk to the first lift. Pop all of them at the top of the lift and redo the buckling process from the video. Pop a few of the buckle in the lift line. Rinse and repeat.
