will the local airport in hayden have issues?

Yes, visibility is likely to be too poor for the minimums required to land. What time are you landing or taking off?

landing at 2pm..

Joel gratz with opensnow.com claims there will be a break in the snow mid day saturday. his prediction is less than the one at steamboat.com

will hope for the best.

My guess is worst case they divert you to Denver if you're already midair and can't land. Otherwise don't be surprised about a cancellation, but we'll hope for good vibes

Heading to Park City tomorrow for a week! Anyone else going? We are staying at the base of Eagle, 3 Kings, First Time, etc. lifts. If you see a guy in a dark olive jacket and red helmet, say hello!

I'm on the flight from DFW to Hayden/Steamboat tomorrow at 10:20 landing at 11:53. I've been watching the weather for this exact reason, but the flight has been on time every day for a while, including days of pretty heavy snow. Tomorrow doesn't look like it will be any more snow than what they had last weekend, so hopefully everything should be ok with the flight.

everything will be fine if you slow down and keep plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you. it is going to be a longer than expected drive

I have no probs keeping it slow . I'll let all the local speedracers around. Lol. They tend to get pissed at my driving up there. Got flipped off twice last month heading up to breck

Has anyone been to Snowbird, Brighton or Solitude in Utah yet this season and can’t comment on enforcement of masks? Currently at Steamboat and as others have mentioned the mask nazis are everywhere and it has become annoying when someone’s nose is slightly exposed and employees are jumping to tell them to raise their mask. We are going to Utah for Spring Break and front past spring break trips it can get warm on the mountain or buses very quickly and having to wear a mask just increases the heat.

You're right at the tail end of the heavy snow (1am-noon). I usually go by how dark blue the snow is on the GFS models to tell if a flight is going to have issues, plus checking the winds. 12mph consistent winds from the Southwest, HDN's runway directions are NW to SE so it's a bit of a crosswind. I want to say you should be okay, but I had a diversion flying into Vail few years ago/they took us all the way back to DFW instead of Denver that left a sour taste. 4" should be pretty easy for an airport to handle throughout a day

You look better based on the weather forecasts. Less than a 60% chance of snow showers and it's only 2 inches of snow rather than the 4+ inches above. The winds will be about 15mph out of the West, but the Eagle airport runs NNE to SSW so pretty convenient for landing. Driving wise, it shouldn't be too bad just take it slow if needed.

For anyone else flying this weekend, Saturday afternoon into Sunday looks to be the worst. Image below is for saturday at 4pm mountain time, guessing sunday should be a good day on the slopes.

ETA: Since this is the ski thread, I'll be at Crystal on Sunday and Monday. Expecting 7" Friday, 9" Saturday, 2" Sunday, and 16" Monday

I asked you in the other thread, but what are the chances of getting in and out of DFW tomorrow between 2:00 and 5:00 PM?

Slim to none? or more like 50/50?
