Will she be happy with the charge? Fitbit charge 2 is $99. Apple 3 is $329.

Besides it being Apple and having apps on watch is it really worth it? All she will be using it for is the time, read text messages, and fitness tracking.

If it's for a Christmas gift, get the Apple Watch 3.

I have a charge 2 and while it reads texts its super limited. It has to scroll across the screen and if you're busy and can't look down immediately you will miss the text and can't recall it.

It also doesn't have GPS. It can connect to your phones GPS but the whole point of a smart watch fitness aspect is to leave the phone behind on runs.

Yes she does. Don't know how I lived without one now.

Can't I just get her any color and change the band?

Does she want to use it for music? The Apple Watch will store music locally, but will need Bluetooth headphones to do it.

My advice is to go get a series 2, which has been discontinued, but is really good for the price (unless she wants LTE for $10 a month).

I’m battling this right now. Got the wife the Fitbit Alta earlier this year after just trying to convince her to get the Apple watch instead. Fast forward to present and she wants the Apple Watch for Xmas. My advice save buying 2 devices and go straight for the Apple Watch now. She won’t be happy with just the Fitbit even tho she says she will.

If you guys aren't struggling financially, I think you should get her what she really wants. But there is nothing wrong with the Fitbit if you're on a budget.

Not struggling but I'm cheap and we have a baby on the way.

I'm thinking about getting the series 1 for $180 and switching the band since I can't find the rose gold available. I think the silver series 1 on a tan leather band will look good.

The other thread (1 vs 2) leaned me to the 1. She would honestly never use GPS or go swimming with it

Is this true for all of the models? Specifically will the generation 2 store locally and allow you to play via bluetooth headphones?

Get her what she wants. It won't leave the new baby diaperless.

Yes, all models allow you to store music on them and you can use any Bluetooth headphones to connect and listen.

Get her the one that will make her work out the most. You're not gonna want to leave her open to excuses for not dropping the baby weight

Yeah I wouldn't do that though. With two more generations out now on the watch...the 1 is just gonna continue to not work as well(just like older iphones when the new ones are released).

And you say she will never go swimming with it...you never know. You get some sporty bands she can swap out and next time yall go to the beach...she can wear her watch and not worry about it.

Yea, but isn't the 1 really just 1 generation behind (1 and 2 released same time)

Plus apple still makes and sells the 1.

This^^^^
I'm the owner of a fitbit2 with tons of different bands. I'm also about to be the owner of an apple 3 series.
All she wanted was a Fitbit..... the Fitbit is fine, didn't need the Apple Watch... fast forward and now we really need the apple.
