Wife Mesh Systems

I've been looking into a few mesh systems for my home. It's around 2,000 square feet. 3 bed, 2 bath. Our current router is just the one issued by MaxxSouth. Home is an older house and wifi tends to seem slower in Master Bedroom.
I've looked into the TP-Link with 3-pack systems.

But not quite sure if it's worth the money for the house or if I should just get a better Wifi Router? Suggestions.

My wife doesn't mesh well with my other wife.

Honestly the only one I have had an experience with is the Amplifi system. I have it in my home and it works great and has a great app to control everything from your phone.
I only bought the base. I was going to buy mesh points as needed but I haven't felt the need yet, my signal is strong (1850+ sq/ft house). I have it pretty much dead center on the house. My parents have a 3000 sqft 3 story house and they have the base on the top floor and mesh point on the other floors. It works great for them as well where a normal router wasn't getting the job done.
Good luck!

I was gonna crack the same jokes everyone else has but meh.
Instead I'll just tell you that we use the Google Wifi 3 puck for a 1900 sq foot house, 1 story and it works perfectly.
Never any drops when roaming around the house on phones or ipads, etc.

As a life long IT guy, i used to never recommend mesh systems as they literally sucked balls. I installed countless Ethernet wired, multiple wireless access point systems and damn near every one of those clients were replacing shitty mesh systems, Eero the most.
Having said that, I quit that last company and have been doing freelance residential IT work for the last year or so and have put in a bunch of Orbi systems and haven't gotten one complaint yet! So I won't hesitate to recommend it. Just be sure to use it as your router as well and connect it to your ISPs modem directly. If you have a combo modem/router unit from your ISP, put it in bridge mode if possible.

Google WiFi. I love it, and you will too. Best internet setup I’ve ever had
The actual setup is incredibly simple, and the mesh network has been very effective. I never notice reduced bandwidth, and I don’t even have optimal node placement. Plus the price isn’t that bad compared to some of the other systems you’ll see recommended here

Oh I absolutely know it’s overkill but I got it at half off on a Best Buy deal one day and said frick it, sure.
My google home runs my house perfectly.

For a house that size, major overkill, unless you have major architectural barriers, like an interior brick wall.

I am a network engineer by profession as well. Went with the linksys velop. At the time I bought it, to my knowledge, it was one of the only ones that had wired backhaul for the APs. Each AP is wired ethernet back to my network closet.
It works like a champ. I get full circuit speeds all around the house with little drop off. They claim 1 AP covers 2000sq ft. I went with 3 for 2000 sq ft house (maybe overkill but it works).

Thanks for the responses fellas! And no pics! Think I'll leave the title as is either way
I was definitely leaning towards the google wifi originally. Think I may go with the 3 pack just because my house may need overkill the way it is setup.

Funny this thread is here today. I bought the 3 puck Google WiFi mesh system this morning for my 1800 sq ft house. Set up in 15 minutes and... WOW.
Speeds are amazing and constant and the range is much, much better now. It’s overkill like others have said but for $250 it can’t be beat. Highly recommend it!

I’ve got google WiFi in my house. Main puck on the middle level at the north end of my house, another puck in the basement at the south end, and a puck on the 2nd floor at the south end. This means that the two “satellites” are pretty far away from the main puck.
The plus is that I have reliable, consistent, full WiFi coverage all over my house. I used to have issues of “low bars” or whatever you want to call it, and my devices would sometimes totally lose connection.
The downside is the satellites definitely put off reduced speed. I pay for gigabit, and by the main puck I get good speeds. The others give off anywhere from 50-100mbps. Plenty fast for what I need, but obviously reduced from my main unit.

I have the 3 puck Google wifi in our house - 2 stories ~3600 sqft. I have 2 down and 1 up. Coverage and speed are both excellent. I can't imagine a system being any easier to set up.
