What kind of computer speakers are the cool kids buying these days?

My desktop configuration has changed and now the surface is in a position where its hard to hear the audio for live sessions.
I just need something simple that sounds good; it seems the new usb-cable only speakers are nice (no power cable, no 3.5mm cables) in both satellite speakers configurations and soundbar type configs.
i see there are still 3.5mm jack speakers, bluetooth 5, usb-powered 3.5mm speakers...so i dont know what to buy.
what works the best these days? been out of the computer speaker market for ages. any thoughts?

Pleased with my new Creatives. USB and 3.5 though.

In that case, you just need a quality USB headset.

Wait for Black Friday. Normally will be some good deals. Last year I bought the Logitech mx sound or something like that for pretty cheap.

I use plantronics headset. Keep the noises down too.

Imo you're better off getting a good pair of headphones with a good DAC & amp. Unless your use case is to fill a room with sound. I was looking at Klipsch Fives speakers before deciding on the headphone route.
Since I do more conference calls and gaming, headphones work better for me than speakers.
Last year I upgraded my PC audio with the following and very happy with this setup:
Sennheiser HD6XX
Schitt Modi DAC
Schitt Magni Heresey Amp
Logitech Yeti Nano Mic
You could skip the DAC as motherboard DACs have come a long way from when you needed a sound card for decent audio. However at a minimum, you want a good amp. The "Schitt stack" is a pretty popular DAC & amp combo for headphones.
I've had a few expensive headsets over the years but the mics (which move) always start having issues after a couple years. Also, wireless headsets pale in quality compared to good wired headphones hooked up to an amp with sufficient power.

Picked up these $99 Bose speaks. Works perfect for me. I used an equalizer on them to tune them to my liking and the motherboard can power them no problem. One of the speakers also has a headphone jack that I use my Phillip headphones on. Perfect setup as they both sound great.

If you just want a cheap set of speakers that don't sound cheap
+1 here.
Got mine 5 or so years ago, cheap and sound great.
