Someone broke into one of our vehicle last night while it was parked in the driveway. Minor items stolen but this really disturbs me.

What is a recommended outdoor camera system with good night vision to catch this POS?

I self installed my Hikvision POE system but I am a hardcore DIY tech geek.

Absolutely love them! Good range on IR also.

If you are handy with technology and proficient in ripping off what other people do from YouTube then I highly recommend them

Nest thermostats/cameras and Google Wifi are the greatest layman tech products I've ever touched.

I like Amcrest POE cameras. I find they are very good quality at a reasonable price. Picture resolution is outstanding, both in daylight and at night. The night vision range is much better than my old cameras.

Go Ring and integrate their new security system into your house. Much cheaper than anything else out there.

I have Amcrest cameras. The motion detection emails can get a lot of false movements. Im happy with the video and storage. Easy to install and reasonably priced.

You're going to get a wide range of answers to this. First you need to answer these questions:

1. What is your budget?
2. How many cameras do you plan on installing? How many are inside and outside?
3. Do you want local storage or cloud storage? Are you ok with paying a monthly service fee for the storage?
4. Can you easily access the location you plan on putting the cameras to run wiring?

I don't use Amcrest's email feature for that very reason.

I bought one too but haven't installed it yet. What model did you get? I got the DS-2CD2522FWD-IW with the 2.8mm lens.

I have dozens of them installed all over the world to watch my employer's critical infrastructure, I assure you they aren't POS's.

I've had plenty of issues with Axis, IQEye, Sony, Flir, other "good" brands. I've never had an issue with hikvision except you have to use Explorer for your web portal, no API exists to make it work on Chrome.

Now run along to IPVM to start another Chinese hacking rumor. Honovich might even give you a free month of premium membership.
