My Fire Stick is the one that has all of the shite downloaded. I can use exodus to watch shows minutes after they've gone off air.

I get that and a Fire Stick is "good enough" and I know what they can do but if you spend a little more and get an actual box your experience will be WAY better. For only $75 you can get an Android box like THIS which blows the Fire Stick out of the water and has at least twice the RAM, storage, and processing power plus the ability to play 4K videos and all kinds of other stuff. Think of using an iPhone 3 versus an iPhone 7, that is about the difference between a Fire Stick and a top of the line Android Box.

Everything is much snappier, load times are faster and larger builds run flawlessly. I don't know if you have played with builds yet, I love the No Limits Build , but you are going to want to. No Limit Builds does offer a Fire Stick build which isn't quite feature packed since Fire Sticks are slow but you should install that one to play around with. After you do I bet you buy a box.

I thought I would share this for people who have kids or watch on tablets. I installed Kodi on an Amazon Fire Tablet I got for $35 during Black Friday 2 years ago and it runs like a champ and looks beautiful!

I just went to the Kodi site, downloaded Kodi for Android and within a minute total I was up and running. Amazon has refurbished ones for under $30 HERE and if you want a cheap Kodi tablet you can't go wrong. The one "catch" which makes it under $30 is when you unlock the tablet the wallpaper will see an ad instead of a picture you select but who gives a shite really since the second you swipe unlock it is gone.

ETA: The tablet kinda sucks for other stuff but it is amazing for Kodi, I can't say enough about how cool it is.

Didnt read whole thread. just cut cord from dish
network. My wife has t-mobile with a 30% discount on sling. Can this only be applied to orange? when i apply it it says 19.99 -6.00 which makes the orange package a great deal. It however doesnt add the discount when i try and combine the orange and the blue packages . says 40.00 bucks. Am i SOL on adding the 30% discount to the combined package? looks that way but wanted to ask. Thanks for any replys.

I've had a fire stick running off my WIFI for a couple months. Just bought a Fire TV so I could wire it in instead of WIFI. Huge difference. Im running No Limits on 17.1. Loving it so far.

Is hard wiring necessary? My internet set up is a long way from my TV in my family room. I have no problem streaming Netflix through WiFi. Have been thinking about cutting the cord for sometime now, just trying to work out all the details.

Streaming Netflix is different than streaming live TV

Hard wired is extremely recommended IMO. But try it out yourself before you do the work

I guess I will have to figure out how to run an Ethernet cable from my office to the family room. Will go through the attic. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hard wired is the way to go, if at all possible.

I did this at my house. Cut a hole in my bedroom wall next to the router and put an RJ45 Cat 5e wall plate. Ran an ethernet cable in the attic that drops down that wall and to my living room with wall plate. Simple.

I only get 2-3mbs upload speed in one of my rooms where I am running a Kodi No Limits Build, it requires higher speeds than normal Kodi, and it plays everything fine. Sometimes 1080p vids will buffer but normal HD is perfect.

Quick question: I think I'm about to cut the cord from Direct tv and get ps vue. I am currently in Lafayette and I have LUS fiber which, some of you know, is amazing internet( 90 up 90 down usually). I have 5 TV's. I have 2 PlayStation's(3&4)in two of the 5 rooms. I will need 3 firesticks, correct? Will I need a better router since I will be on WiFi for the rest of the TV's? My router is old and slow.

I have sort of a dumb question

Eventually, I'd like to go streaming once networks are fully integrated. What do you guys do for remotes? I have a Harmony in the living room, but I just can't see spending 100+ bucks for 4 other rooms or using the shitty little Roku/AppleTV/Fire remotes for all my tv watching.

Yes you will need a firestick for each TV you want kodi on. I would get a box for your main TV instead of a firestick though but you don't have to.

Has anyone worked extensively with 17.1? I'm still with Jarvis because I heard about buffering issues. Anyone here getting that?

So I'm going to answer my own question.
After I posted this I just went ahead and upgraded Kodi and I am having issues with 17.1 Krypton that I am not having with Jarvis. The time it takes to search, the time it takes to load links and the function of fast forward or the skip forward are not working as well as they do on Jarvis.
Keep in mind that my internet is quite shitty so this could be the root of it but Jarvis always hauled arse regardless. I've loaded multiple builds in Krypton to see if it was just the base Kodi app but the problem followed me with every build. Pulse, Infusion, No Limits etc.
Yesterday I went back to Jarvis with the pulse build(I seriously recommend it) and it performed how I remembered. No 2 minute buffers, quick searches, and the skip forward function is working properly. It's confusing too because a lot of people are really happy with the new Kodi.

When I upgrade my internet I will test 17.1 Krypton again.

This is your problem. I only have 12mb Internet but it runs 17.1 fine. I took it to my office which is fiber and it was much quicker.

Just a heads up and this probably won't affect many people. The android app for DTVNow seems to be broken after upgrading the the Android O beta. Going to have to roll back this evening.

Can someone give me some guidance. I'm new to the cord cutting.

I am moving in 2 weeks and will just be getting internet. The company offers 100 mpbs for $58 or 1000 mpbs for $70. I'm thinking about just starting with the 100 mpbs as we don't watch much tv besides sports and movies on the main tv in the living room.

So, the company also offers to "set up the home with an approved router (one that will run 100 mpbs) and ensure devices are running at optimum levels" for $9.99 per month. Should I get this as well or just buy my own router?
