no you cant. Find one person who returned a TV that fit in their viewing location that returned it for being "too big."

Depends on content.

If you game or watch alot of fast moving sports (eg basketball or hockey), size can be a detriment. The rtings recommendations that were posted are pretty good.

do not consider the TV's smart platform. You can buy a streaming device to provide whatever streaming platform interface you like best.

Considering you didn't mention anything about the typical video quality aspects, just get a TCL or Hisense of the size you want.

If you are going to get into picture quality aspects then the conversation will change but I dont think that is necessary.

If you have had good luck with LG just get another LG and then get a Roku, AppleTV, Google Streamer, Fire stick or whatever you like best.

All of this...

Just went to Best Buy to lay eyes on them .

I am between the 75" Sony X90L and Hisense U8N. Hisense has more brightness

U8N is a fine TV. It is only really weak in processing and accuracy. the X90L will have better EOTF tracking, DV accuracy and not really need post installation calibration.

If you get the U8N, be sure to get the set calibrated in your home. It makes a big difference on hisense sets.

Get the Hisense, much better tv overall by a large margin.

Did you check to make sure that the brightness levels on both units were set at the midpoint, rather than the Hisense possibly being maxed out, and the Sony somewhere short of that?

The hisense definitely has higher peak output levels but to your point, they only make a difference if you start cranking up settings and have less focus on accuracy.

MiniLED is significantly brighter, almost double in some areas.

Then you add in the near OLED black levels compared to weak black levels of the X90L and it's a large gap. Same reason the Rtings scores are so far apart in favor of the Hisense, it wipes the floor with it in 18/20 categories.

I have a 65" sony a9g OLED and a 77" a95L OLED.

Sony has me hooked for life now. Every other TV is a downgrade to my eyes. Kinda screwed myself but there is no better place to watch TV then my living room!

A woman once told me her family did just that. I’ve often wondered what her husband and kids thought about the decision.

Another thing to consider in a mid tier TV is an ATSC 3.0 tuner, that way if you are in a market that has ATSC 3.0 stations you can watch better versions of your local channels with an antenna.

Unfortunately, the TV manufacturers, the broadcasters, and the FCC are screwing the pooch on this transition with things like encryption, high cost of tuners, licensing issues, and even another standard that could make ATSC 3.0 a waste of time. But on the flip side some broadcasters are trying to run to 3.0, and begin the sunset of 1.0 sooner rather than later.

I actually bought an external network tuner that allows me to watch TV on any TV or smartphone with a smart device like a Roku, but it can only tune 2 of the 6 New Orleans stations in ATSC 3.0 because 4 of them are encrypted. The box can tune any of the ATSC 1.0 stations without issue, but 3.0 is a hot mess.

Anyone knowledgeable about TVs care to give their opinion on the TCL version of the frame TV?

It doesn't compete with the Samsung Frame.

I would be hesitant to spend that much on a TCL. They look and work fantastic but they cut corners on some of their electronics and just don't last.

Bought this Samsung in November and it’s pretty great. There is a Sony a95 that is good but it’s way more expensive
