You can’t easily legally attack Kodi outside of the streaming box makers that include and some of the plugin makers that they’ve shut down in the past. That makes Plex the next best target for people trying to justify their anti piracy lawyer jobs.

Youtube has thousands of videos, full games of NCAA, NBA, NFL that are being streamed "without the express written consent" of the leagues. No cares.

Tried to set up Jellfin tonight. It's decent but not ready for prime time yet. I'm going to use Emby next and see how that goes.

Emby works great. I switched from plex this summer to emby when plex shut down my share. No issues since and have grown to like it. Really no difference for what I need. Just different os.
One of the servers I pay for has recently added remux ++ that I can use on my shield, I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. But his database is even larger than his plex/emby at 500tb on remux

remux is great for me on my 4K HDR tvs hard-wired on my local network.
my plex server can't transcode them for shite for friends though. i guess i shouldn't expect a 70GB 4K HDR uncompressed video to play well remotely on a 9 year old alienware.

Hope he has the bandwidth and transcoding power for that!
I'm trying to get the IPTV function working. Would be a neat all in one solution and be able to stream my IPTV on the girlfriend's tv when I'm there. Problem is that I'm having to learn to install tvheaded on a VM on my server to get it to work. Oh the problems we create for piracy.

2. I've added a Cloud server with 500TB DOWNLOADED content. This server offers 4k, REMUX ++. I've disabled transcode on the server so you will need a client that can direct play (like NVIDIA shield). Let me know if you want access to this (no extra charge).

Just move to Emby now
Does Emby have automation processes like radarr/sonarr/couch potato?

I haven't tried Emby, but it's just an alternative to Plex, right? Radarr etc are completely independent from whatever front end you use.

It's also how I access all my recording of LSU football games. If something happens to plex I will be furious.
I have all of last seasons games on DVR. I can move these to PLEX and watch them anytime and anywhere? Can someone give me some insight on how to do all this?
I have a smart TV, Roku,and FireTV.

Yes. I used it preferentially because someone wanted to watch high school state championship games but couldn't get CST, I had an HDHomerun setup, and Emby will let you actually stream remotely from the public IP (no remote sign-in from an easy-to-name URL). without paying for the subscription but Plex required subscription for the same. And I had bet them that I could have it up and running inside of 30 minutes. So my use of Emby over Plex began. I haven't used Plex in a while.
I'm generally anti-pirate but felt that pure unavailability + relative obscurity were general exceptions. I do not use Radarr (and is Sonar a similar aggregator but for movies vs tv?), so I can't speak to how they integrate (not for you but for the fellow you responded to), but I seem to understand them to download files to a folder (or archives based on series/season/etc. You would just point your Emby directories to those "dumps" and it would be another way to play it. You can access remote servers the same way as you would with Plex. There are some metadata grabbers that are decent. Plugins are generally less than that offered in Plex. I tried to use it as my DVR when I switched providers and lost cable access, but I found out that an HDMI input card (not the software) was the limiting factor. I use it for my locals and have reliable remote access to them now (I did since pay for their lifetime subscription, so I'm relatively locked into it but also don't use it a whole lot).

Which DVR? Satellite? Cable company? HTPC?
The first two require relatively annoying procedure and hardware to convert. The latter is easy and the answer would be "yes"

All of my Plex content is 100% legally purchased. I do that because I want the highest quality possible. Plex is an incredible tool that I've invested more time than I'd like to admit in configuring playlists, collections, shows, posters, etc...
I love the playlist feature very much.
You sound very organized. Plex really is incredible.
I haven't tried Emby yet, but I do like that they allow you to just enter the url for an imdb or whatever metadata you need to fetch. I really don't see why Plex doesn't incorporate this.

This is pedantic and semantical, but remuxes are just as pure and high quality as the bluray source. In some cases, encoders even do a better job with the media and fix errors that got put on the disc in the first place. Anyway, like I said, pedantic.

One thing I have noticed is the Emby made a mess of my music folder. Lidarr has them all neatly labeled and organized, but somehow Emby thinks an Alice in Chains album is by "Alice Mudgarden." And it has lot of duplicates for whatever reason.
