Tell me why I should/shouldn’t switch to Samsung Ultra 22

Currently iPhone 11. Watched as many YouTube’s as I can find. Little worried about switching platforms when never having used it

Quick thoughts on why or why not?

My phones more of a utility than a lifeline like most folks these days

I swapped about 3 years ago.
Takes less than a day to figure it out.
Takes about a couple weeks for it to become second nature.

I have an iPhone for work and an Android for personal.
I use both all the time. Really, very little if any user interface differences.
I prefer android.
Main reasons are: headphone jack, interface with PC, less apple bullshite.

But like you, it is a utility versus a lifeline for me.
My family hates that I'm the outlier because I'm not in their group chats or on their shared album.
I don't care about that.

Do you rely on messages, pictures, videos, etc. from people who use iPhones ? if so, they will all be degraded..

I'm a day away from abandoning a years long marriage to android just for these tiny, petty things that have bugged me for years

I really dont think people have idea just how awesome iMessage is unless they no longer have access.

Its so much more than the blue/green bubble. Its SMS vs a full featured robust chat system. Google does the best they can with SMS and has tried and abandoned many iMessage alternatives. Whats App is the only true competitor, but getting an iPhone use to default to Whats App is a very hard if not impossible task.

I think if your family uses Google Photos, which it seems like most do, then pictures wouldn't be a big deal.

We're an apple family and I kinda wanna just get a Pixel 7 or 7 pro but I already splurged on so much apple shite. If you're not tied in with ipads, apple watches, etc, then it shouldn't be THAT big of a swap.

You may want to look at the Google Pixel 7. It isn't quite as good as the Samsungs but it's a tad cheaper.

Samsung has nice hardware and their skin of Android has come a long way. I just can't stand the clutter of having Samsung apps on top of the Google apps I actually prefer to use. I went back to the Pixel line from my S22 Ultra.

Not sure why my comment would get a downie, its the truth..I pay for four iPhones and my Pixel (up to 6 pro now, I've owned them all and most Samsungs)...

I'm not saying the crapple system is superior, but try getting a shite thumbnail video from your iPhone users because its proprietary..shite images sent from you when you are on the best camera out there

And of course, apple doesn't let facebook read all your messages.

I've never owned an iphone. But I have a S22 Ultra and love it. I didn't think that I'd even use the pen but it's a great feature.

The text message thing was annoying. Fortunately Google solved the issues.

Android people, swap your text messaging app to Google Messages. You can send and receive high quality pictures and videos and use emojis on someone else's texts just like iMessage.

Google Messages is preinstalled on most Android phones, including all the best Android phones. It offers seamless SMS and RCS communication, creating an experience akin to iMessage. Google is going all-in on this platform, constantly bringing useful new features to the app.

The official Google Messages website.

no, they didn't...

all pictures I send/receive to iPhones are unbelievably fuzzy..Videos my wife and kids send me are literally thumbnails in the chats as long as my pixel is involved...

I've never been pro crapple, but between the 5G bugs and shite like this, I'm simply waiting on a 14 max to be delivered

Well, at least we can emoji on other people's texts.

That is 100% Apple's fault as they refuse to integrate the RCS standard.

Enter RCS, an upgrade to SMS through a universal standard known as Rich Communications Services. RCS, a platform that’s significantly more interactive and capable than today’s SMS, has been supported and promoted by the GSMA since 2008.

In short, RCS makes text messaging as engaging as WeChat, WhatsApp, and other messaging apps while providing the reach of SMS & MMS. Rich features like high-res photo and video sharing, mapping directions, location sharing, typing indicators, the ability to add and remove members to group chats, and so much more, are delivered to a device’s default messaging app irrespective of the network the user is on.

So whether it’s person-to-person (P2P) messaging between friends or application-to-person (A2P) messaging used for business purposes, RCS is changing the way everyone communicates.

RCS should be capable of sending excellent quality media. I just tested it with my buddy and it's not 1080p. It was only a 50 MB video.

When you buy apple you are supporting China. Until Apple no longer bends the knee to the CCP no American should buy apple. After what they did during the Hong Kong protests and recently during the zero covoid lockdowns its apparent where their loyalty lies.
