Spectrum internet users - simple advice

If you're currently a Spectrum internet user and you've been paying for their 100Mbps service, make sure you chat with someone on their website and tell them you're not getting 200Mbps speeds. Apparently, we're supposed to be getting new modems and double the speeds without paying anything extra.
I literally messaged them about my speeds (which have averaged 115down/12up), but they saw that as lacking and they simply said they'll be upgrading my modem to get 200Mbps. Just an FYI.

I am in Dallas too and actually just got Spectrum and have been receiving the 115/12 speeds. Thanks for the heads up, I am going to ask them about this.

They made a big deal about upgrading and how nice they were to give it for free. I don't know anyone who got it without calling them and having them "update" the modem. They were able to push it to mine and I didn't have to swap modems.

Friend bought a house and had spectrum come and hook up the internet. New install and they put in a docsis 2.0 modem for 100mb plan

So I can just open a chat and say "Hey, can I get 200mbps?" and they'll say sure? Guess I'll try and report back

Done! Shout out to OP

I run a speed test every few days out of habit. Last week, I started getting 200mbps down. I didn't make any requests, it just turned up. This isn't the first time Charter did this. I have been a Charter customer for 15 years. More than once over the years, I ran a speed test and download speeds had been turned up without notice. I am fine with that. I assume all Spectrum customers will be getting the same soon.

I'm getting strung around. Online agent keeps telling me "you'll know when you're upgraded" and that "they're going area by area"

Wow

But, I think in the end, it depends on the agent you get. If you get Andrea P, you're IN! I used to get the "you'll be notified when this service is available in your area".

For what its worth, they also have new DVR boxes that they don't tell anyone about unless you ask.
I never thought i'd say this, but Spectrum makes me miss Cox.

I'm getting my internet hooked up at the end of the month. I'll have to email my guy and see what this is all about.

Did a speed test when I saw this thread and I was still at 113up/12down. Did an online chat. Agent said it showed that I was already on 200. When I said that I had just ran a test and told him the results he said he would "reprovision" my modem. Once modem reset I ran another test and got 212up/12down.

Is this a nationwide thing?

Ol' boy came by yesterday to test it out. He basically caught me trying to get a free upgrade; however, he ran some tests and saw that I was getting 230+ on speed tests while on the 100mbps plan.
In the end, I tried and found out I was already getting double the speeds.

They only offer 100/10 and 400/20 in my area. I had been paying for 60/5, I suppose, and they just pushed an “update” to me for free that landed me at 115/11 (speed test). Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the heads up! I just did the live chat to ask if they could push it through and they did. Enjoy a thumbs up!

I did the live chat and it took like 10 minutes. Run a speedtest before and after and I’ve got double the speed.

Glad I could help.
In the end, their technician must've hooked me up because I'm getting more than double my usual speeds over WiFi.

I asked about it on chat and they said they were in the process of upgrading, but it wasn't available in my area yet. Good to know though, especially since it seems like you have to reach out to get the upgrade.

Just FYI, i ran a speed test yesterday - my speeds were automatically upgraded
Obviously this is something they can do from their end because I still have my original modem
