I had issues with the Ecobee 3 and my wiring. Grabbed a Nest (latest version) and installed it with no problem. I don't think I had enough voltage to power the ecobee but it just has enough to power the Nest through the common wire and all.

I like nest but others prefer ecobee.

Love my Nest. Heard some horror stories about ecobee reliability from a friend.

Have had the ecobee3 for like 2 years now. I love it. Even detected and told me when my freon was low.

I'm this, except my own experience with ecobee was the horror story. Wired perfectly, even had and HVAC guy come out and make sure everything was correct: would blow hot when it was on a/c and would blow cold when it was on heat. Just not a great situation. Plugged up nest, worked first time no problem

Nest gets a lot of hate on here, but I really love my nest.

Love my ecobee so far. I have 3 sensors spread around the house to keep the temp better regulated. I have a buddy who owns an a/c company and he says that he's seen nothing but issues with the nest.

How big of a pain is it to run a C-wire?

I have two thermostats(upstairs and down). Nest is installed downstairs, and it works great. Upstairs I bought a Sensi thermostat, and I hate it. Only reason I bought it in the first place was because it didn't require a C_wire.

I only have a Nest. I'm still blown away at how easy it was to install. It literally took me 10 minutes one morning, and has worked flawlessly since.

i got a Nest for christmas and it is great man... When the wife starts bitching because its too cold, its great to just pick up my phone and change it instead of having to get up.

I only have experience with the Nest but I really like it. So easy to set up and it's worked perfectly so far.

Depends on your house. It could be easy as tying a new thermostat wire to the old one and pulling it through.

The ecobee3 comes with a 4-wire adapter kit though if you don't have a C-wire.

My in-laws Nest (not sure what version) has internal jumpers for several different configurations so a C wire isn't required.

I've had a sensi for about 3 years because the same reason but I've really liked mine. It's never had any issues. The one time my AC went out it notified me and I was able to get it fixed before I was home (was on vacation).

I have an ecobee4. It came handy since it's got built in alexa already. if you're planning to start a smarthome, it might be a good idea to check it. It works great with our HVAC. But ecobee 3 is already a decent thermostat, it can also work with alexa, only with a separate purchase.

Unless you literally have the same exact schedule every day, do not get one of these (Nest). I fricking hated it.

Wondering the same thing. We are moving into a new house at the end of July and there is a Honeywell T6 Pro thermostat installed already. What are yalls thoughts on this? Is it worth it to swap it out for an Ecobee or Nest? Its brand new fwiw.
