$25 off FireTv to bring price down to $44.99.

$15 off the stick to bring price down to $24.99.
LINK

Personally I prefer the FireTv because of its higher RAM and processor.

Looks like there is a sale on all the Amazon devices today.

All of the Echo suite of products are on sale as well.

That is a possibility. With the Echo also being on sale as well, I wonder if they are starting a price war?

The new fire tv is trash and you need to get an Ethernet adapter.

its not an upgrade from the previous FireTV other than HDR.

They've been pretty regularly discounting Amazon devices. The deeper you are in the ecosystem the more stuff you order. They're still trying to get you to order through Alexa and it makes sense. Why say "Alexa add X to the list" when you can say "Alexa, order X"?

Please elaborate on this because people that have complained about it aren't clear. Is it JUST the Ethernet issue? My Fire TV box runs on the WiFi and I have no problems with it. Maybe if I were streaming a 4K movie through Kodi I'd care about Ethernet, but that's not what I'm doing, most feeds I find are 720 anyway. So if the issue is just the Ethernet it might be just fine for many people and more a bad fit for you than trash for everyone.

The new fire tv is only set up to run over wifi. You have to buy an adapter if you want to hardline the device.

I've noticed a huge difference in picture quality running apps like PS Vue or Netflix with the older Fire TV looking better than the new one. My gen 2 fire tv runs great over wifi as well.

If anything this new fire tv is just a nicer fire stick.

yes. really the only thing is lacks in is the no cat port. Thats where the hate stems from. This should have been marketed as the new FireTv Stick. But doing that they couldnt charge 100$ at first.

I have a GB capable netgear router with the device 5 feet from the router.

My other devices easily pull 150+ download. I'm saying the hardware on the gen 2 works better than the gen 3.

Could the problem possibly be the app you're using needs to be rewritten to support it? I was just googling the specs and that's at the very top of their developer device specifications page. LINK Why would they list that for developers if it wasn't an actual feature?

no, i tried a bunch of things. Plenty of people have tried to run it and it cant. LINK
that link saying that the high bitrate of HEVC has is what is keeping it from playing. it can run HEVC with very small bitrates but why have a HEVC movie coded for that. Kinda seems like they got it to run small HEVC movies just so they could put it on the lable.

Yea until they come up with a legit replacement for the gen 2 4K I wont get another one.

by then hopefully they fix the ethernet port issues

Also the lack of a USB port is stupid on the new one.

We’ll see what happens to them

Criticism fairly muted at the moment compared to what PSG faced for losing to a much better RM squad. Things that make you go hmmm.

I've been looking at these as well but I don't run Plex, I don't run Kodi and I don't game a lot, although my kids are getting older and so maybe they will eventually?
Is the Shield TV useless for me given those 3 things above? I think I'd like it because we use Google TV and that doesn't run on Amazon.
