Looks like Apple is starting to implement it into messaging in the latest beta, wife has a 15 Pro Max and I have a S24 Ultra and it's seems to be working pretty decent between the two phones.

Pardon my ignorance here but what exactly is the benefit? I know it's supposed to play nicer but is it just for stupid shite like "thumbs up" type emote shite on previous text?
That stuff doesn't move the needle for me one bit but then again, I'm in my 40s and don't give AF if someone has a green bubble either.

Is the biggest thing that it's NOT sms and therefore maybe a bit more secure?

It's more secure and can pass much larger files than MMS. Videos from iPhone to Android, for example, have always been pixelated, super-compressed trash.

The ability to send high-resolution pictures and videos will be the most obvious benefit. Apple was using MMS to send media outside it's ecosystem. A picture sent through MMS has a resolution of around 640x480 pixels.

That's cool. I guess it's an upgrade to what's been around for 20-25 years so anything is better than nothing. Maybe it'll spurn incremental progress and that benefits everyone.

Yes it's still green but Apple has said it probably won't change that but who cares really. Full size vids and pics and it does have typing indicators on both ends. Reactions to messages are live reactions on Google and still reactions on Apple. But this is the first beta where it's been integrated im sure the experience will improve as Apple goes along and Google will continue to update as well I got a messages update on my phone after IOS beta 2 dropped

Apple isn't running Google's Jibe version, they are going with their own version. Some things may not play nice. Anyone can run a universal profile as well.

Yes, blue means imessage and because of other functionality between apple devices that isn't available in RCS.

Any group message between iPhone + non-iPhone, RCS-supported phone experience/remarks?

This is the real reason I switched to iPhone. It’s very easy to use any number of 3rd party apps for groups, but most of my colleagues are, simply put, too old and not interested in GroupMe/signal/whatsapp/younameit, and I was the odd man out that was killing the groups (which were necessary for work).

I've had some Android numbers work with RCS and some not, not sure why. I picked a few friends that had working RCS numbers and started a new group chat and it worked well. I could leave the chat and we could all see typing updates and could send uncompressed photos/videos to each other.

By release in September it should be fine.
