My experience calling DISH was the second I mentioned Vue, they went ahead and cancelled my account. No attempt to try to persuade me to stay, I was not under contract.

Direct TV made a minimal attempt to have me stay. Offered $5 off a month for a year!!
I had four months left on my contract, I gladly ate the $80.
After cancellation fee, an antenna, and 3 Fire TVs, I'll be getting ahead on the move in August.

Funny, when I call DTV I told them I wanted to cancel and within 90 seconds it was a done deal...the lady said to look for my final bill and return kit in the mail then hung up on me. True story.

So has it been determined that PlayStation Vue sucks on PS3? I don't own any other device at this time.

Try it on the free trial. Only thing that should bother you is going through the guide and the interface menu. Stream quality is great.
If you feel it's something you will like, I would buy a Fire tv because it's so damn smooth and cheap

Out streams fine to a PS3, it's just that the guide is a little slow. Still better than fire TV stick

The fire tv stick really is miserable to use, thinking about getting the fire tv box for the kid's rooms even though they only watch one channel

I feel the same. I originally had Fire Tvs in the living room and kitchen, and the Fire Sticks were in the master and my kid's room.
I made it about a week using the Fire Stick in the master. We are still using it in my sons room, but if when the Fire Tvs go on sale again, I'll prob upgrade his as well.

Yeah the fire stick was just a pain to use. Even though I have a ps4, I wanted the fire tv just because I hated the stick.
Kodi and Vue run very nice now and I got it for $85. I feel like it was a great deal

I signed up for the free trial last night. Running it on PS4 right now. My thoughts--
The Bad
1) The thing that stood out the most was the way the quality of the picture fluctuated. Appeared to drop to 720 or less when changing channels or a new show started or when going to commercials.
2) There was enough lag to bother me. In the menu and during viewing.
3) Not a lot of On Demand content. Just looking around I only found the last 3 episodes of BCS and 2 of the last 3 of TWD.
The Good
1) Starting with the lowest package. Doesn't seem like many channels but honestly it contained everything I usually watch with the exception of HBO, Sundance, and IFC. I can pick up Sundance and IFC by bumping up to the next tier.
2) The price. Not sure if saving $87/month will help me overlook the things I don't like about the service but I'm will to give it 6 more days to convince me.
I'm just curious as to whether Sony will improve this service or if it goes to shite once serious cord cutters start piling on.

That lack of on demand content is a head scratcher, just last week they had every episode of those two shows and now they scaled back...I might call and ask why
Posted on 4/19/16 at 10:09 am to LSUsmartass
Not sure..have you tried adding them to your shows and then going through to see if they are in your on-demand options?

So is it confirmed by multiple people that if you're DVRing a show, you have to wait until the show is done recording before you can watch it? Is it device-dependent, channel/show-dependent, etc.?
Because we have kids, and I can't remember a time when we didn't start watching our primetime shows until 20 minutes into them.

Hmm...I couldn't swear to it, but I'm fairly sure that I've started watching DVR content while the show was still on.
Posted on 4/19/16 at 10:43 am to ILikeLSUToo
I think it depends on show/channel

I tried jumping in on Better Call Saul last night about halfway through. It wouldn't let me rewind to the beginning.
I just watched something else in the meantime so it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I was a little annoyed though. I won't complain a whole bunch, as the service is cheap.

quote:From my experience with this on the PS4, you can watch it from the beginning by bringing up the info screen(or whatever it's called) and hitting "start over". However, you can't fast forward through commercials if the show is still on.

Where is the start over button on the Fire remote?
