PS Vue doesn't have long

Sony is seeking to sell off its PlayStation Vue TV business for a figure in the "tens of millions," ending a multi-year experiment in taking on cable companies with lower-cost, "skinny" streaming TV bundles.

Sony has approached one potential buyer, sports streaming service FuboTV, but apparently to no avail. The report claims Sony's service has 500,000 US households ad subscribers, and it has raised the prices of its bundles multiple times in a failed effort to achieve profitability. The sale would transfer those subscribers, along with Sony's technology, to the potential new owner. But not all of the service's hard-to-secure content deals would necessarily transfer in the sale, potentially complicating the sale's prospects.
ArsTech Sony looking to unload Vue
Kinda sad as when it came out it was great. Obviously the price hikes and channel wars have killed it. Sounds like prospects are grim even for a sale.

My Vue is still working just fine. Too bad it hasn't been marketed well. If and when it goes away, I'll probably switch to YouTubeTV.

I've been with Vue since day 1 almost. It has everything I need. This potentially sucks.

With new, more focused streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, and Peacock right around the corner, it's reasonable to conclude that the à la carte model is on a path to victory with US households.
I think this is an important quote. We stopped our PSVue a few months back because we couldn't justify paying $65 a month when we were watching Netflix/Hulu/Prime more. I think a lot of people are going to run into this and find a self made bundle of premium services is more attractive than a cable streaming service. They're all in trouble IMO, especially if the sports networks start going more a la carte.

So basically the same thing happening to linear TV is going to happen to these OTT options. The programmers will continue to raise their rates and there's no money to be made for the ones selling it to the consumer.

Yep literally the middle man is being cut out of the market. Cable at least knows it's money maker is going to be internet.
Any small channels will be dead soon. Of course Disney basically owns half the channels now

I watch like 6 channels. I wish I could just pay for those 6 channels. I have the $65 package with Vue because I wanted RedZone but I don’t watch 95% of the other shite. I’m sure I’m not the only one like this. ESPN should come out with a streaming app. I guarantee people would spend $20/month and not blink.

No, ESPN+ is like a flow over of content for ESPN. They have events that aren’t mainstream enough for their regular channels. If their regular lineup was on there it would be a no brained.

Yeah upgrading by removing NFL Network and the Redzone. What a deal!

It would be a channel downgrade for me as well To move to youtube tv and I don’t even watch sports.

not at all YouTube TV is a good product but it isn't as good as PSVue
Ive trialed DTV Now and You Tube TV and always went back to PSVue
The guide and interface along with how easy the DVR works is unmatched.
Esp if you are using it on a PS4

You can switch to YTTV right now and get better service for less money. Nothing sucky about that.

I completely disagree. I just switched over to YT TV and it is night and day better. The interface is so much smoother and buffering and steam quality are also better IMO. DVR is also just as good if not better than Vue.
To each his own I guess. This is coming from a Vue user since day 1 up until about 2-3 months ago.

Another serious competitor should step in and buy the service. Vue has the best UI and reliability hands down. It blows my mind how few subscribers the service has considering the quality. I’ve been a subscriber for 3+ years now and would hate to see it go.

They did a horrible job marketing the service in my opinion
