They got you man. They literally got you to buy random shite you weren't going to buy.

To be fair I almost bought Breakfast Club on iTunes last week for $12.99. So score one for me.

Overall, the sales were disappointing. I did pick up some random stuff like nitrile gloves I was running low on, a book the was discounted. Shoes are 30%off so I may still buy a pair of new balance golf spikes I've been eyeing tonight.

Last year had some really solid deals especially on toys. I bought a ton of stuff for my daughter for Christmas. This year was very disappointing

LINK

Xbox One S 500GB Console + Play & Charge Kit + Xbox White Wireless Controller + 3 Digital Games for $240

Recore, Halo 5, and Forza Motorsport 6 are the games. The price on the console along is worth it.

im about to pull the trigger on this

noticed they weren't backlit but I'm never in pitch dark. I see that you pretty much have to use your phone, is there one at a good price point that works with Alexa, Roku, etc and you can just use the remote to control everything w/o using a phone?

It works just fine. Have 2, 1 in bedroom. Buttons aren't hard to memorize with no lights. Never have to use phone either.

Man, they had this one Logitech Harmony Ultimate All in One Remote with Customizable Touch Screen and Closed Cabinet RF Control, works with Alexa - Black on Amazon lightning deal for $169. Why didn't any of you say anything??

Waitlist is full. Oh well, I'll try the one from BB and see if I like it.

I have it and it's a great item. Not being backlit does aggravate the hell out of me but for that price its well worth it.

Cool. Just ordered it on BB and hopefully it does what I need without hassle. Don't need a $200-$300 remote for just a few things.

I'm right there with ya. Last year we did at least half of our Christmas shopping on Prime Day. This year I got 1 thing for each of my girls for Christmas. I did buy some random items here and there, but it was definitely not as good as prior years.

ANd they still broke sales records even with the shitty deals. Amazon knows people will buy on Prime Day regardless

They will break records because the number of Prime members continues to increase. I would bet the sales per member on Prime Day were down this year. Selection just wasn't very good.

That's probably correct. Last year they were pushing the Fire line. This year was Alexa. Next year will be whatever they've invented between now and then

I disagree. There were all kinds of great deals. I saw anywhere from drill/driver kits listed at $120 today that were $65 yesterday, to $20 new tennis shoes. It may not have been what people were looking for in Tech, and I know this is the Tech board, but there were a lot of good prices.

Here we start getting to the problem. There is a huge opportunity to improve how searchable the site is on Prime Day. I bet there are 10+ things I would have bought it I would have had those deals surfaced to me. But, searching through the index is painful and far from optimized. Small improvements to the search would move the needle in a seismic way.

I agree with that. It was like navigating a 2003 yahoo site with no search engine

tried a couple of those off brand Tv's- imo you get what you pay for

TCL is massively popular in China. They've perfected quality at scale IMO. Netflix sidling up to them to the point where they included the Roku as the OS itself for the TV wasn't just a fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants decision for Hastings and Netflix.

I've had mine outside through late summer, fall & winter and then again this summer without issue. Not saying it won't conk out on me tomorrow. But I'm pleased with what it's done for me.

Read a deal aggregating website's blog that I frequent here and there in the leadup to this past Prime Day. They mentioned that in 2016, they tracked and reviewed 8,000 Prime Day, "Deals," that Amazon touted.

They actually posted 64 based on whether or not they actually were a, "deal," or not.

64 out of 8,000...Think about that...In baseball terms, they were batting .008.

IMO Prime Day is all about getting folks to join Prime and/or getting folks to use up their free trial as far away from the Holiday Shopping Season as possible so that by the time the latter rolls around you're forced to pay to use the service.
