Plasma TV question, any way to unburn black bars?

When I watch normal TV there are black bars on the top and bottom, but when I use my Apple TV I get discolorization there. It's lighter. We use the device to mirror an iPad and watch Game of Thrones for instance, and it's off-putting.
This image is me running iTunes off my computer, to play on my stereo, and you can see the lighter bands on top and bottom.
Is there any way to 'unburn' them? Maybe leave an image that is just the bars on for a while?

There are some images and dvds on the web you can try. Don't hold your breath though.

Check to see if your TV has an anti-burn feature. My Samsung has one that works.

I dont have an answer to your question, but i have a similar problem.
mine sometimes has a red "burn mark" in a few places, typically the directv logo or something like that but i goes away after a couple of minutes.
honestly its probably not noticeable to most people, but bugs the shite out of me

This is a Samsung, I'll check the setup menu.

Nope. The only way would be to burn the rest of the image to match. Good luck with that one.
ETA: I looked up the Samsung feature. It might help some but it's not going to cure the issue but may improve viewing.

I figured you'd have something like this.

Serves you right for not taking care of your TV. Had a plasma a while back and never burned it in because I made sure to not have still images on display for more than an hour.

There never were still images...well besides the black bars on the top and bottom. Only a caveman watches TV in zoom.

Well that is a tube based integrated amp (2.0 stereo).

I'll be sure to turn the news channel off at 59 minutes. Same for ESPN.

You've never watched a 2.35:1 movie? Are you a poor?

Every time you leave the house run the screen wipe.
My wife doesn't understand homescreens.
It works well.

Those are still images.

I'm having a difficult time thinking of anything I watch now that isn't in 16:9. Even if I were to watch a wider aspect ratio it would only be for a movie at a time and certainly would not create burn-in. The only way to get burn-in faster is if you are over driving the set by running contrast or brightness way too high.

It really sucks that plasmas are no more.

I think I got the last one...similarly I still have the last HD flat Sony CRT. I think that thing's as heavy as my fridge and it's a 34".
