Because it cost money to license CDMA technology that's required on Verizon's network. It would make the phone more expensive. Why include it when most of the world and half the US doesn't need it.

A better question would be when is Verizon going to deprecate the usage of proprietary technology?

I'm planning a return to the iPhone this year after 4-5 years on Android.

That said, my GF's disastrous problems with her 7 (storage error, the complete abortion that is icloud) still give me pause

I have the OnePlus 3 and I just put in the SIM card and it connected to AT&T's network automatically.

OnePlus 3T user here on AT&T. Best phone I've ever owned. Plan on upgrading the minute the 5 is released.

The S8 is cheaper with Verizon. $15/month compared to 28 w AT&T
