CAD, thanks again for all the info. This past weekend I installed a WINK hub, Honeywell RTH6580WF and a Schlage Connect Camelot Touchscreen. It was ridiculously simple. I had to call Honeywell because my AC fan was blowing hot air. They had me screw with the programming a little, but got it working for me in about 5 minutes. The whole setup works like a charm.

Yes, it's quality! Looks great also.

if wink would support IFTT it would be a whole lot better but of course..open standard! run away! the entire wink platform will go to hell if they support IFTT
Wink channels are now on IFTTT. I set up a recipe to lock the door when I add something to my todo list on the Amazon Echo.

My hub has been updating for almost 24 hours. I have unplugged, waited, and still no change.

Hey i took my Wink out of the box this week. I bought it like a year ago. When i try to turn it on, i do not have the "Blue sticker" on the box so i believe mine was out well before the recent issues. Do i need to send it back for them to "fix it".
i am unable to get it connected to my wifi. I have read the fix it yourself instructions and know that you are forwarding your IP to talk to their IP. But how will the wink talk to it if i cant even get it connected to the wifi?

honestly i survived the wink-expired-certificate death issue (lucky i guess) so i don't have a good step-by-step to tell you on how to fix that.
what exactly is the problem connecting to your wifi?

well the first step in the app set up is does your box have the blue circle sticker. if you click no it gives you the option to fix it yourself or send it in. if you click yes then you go through the connect to wifi setup. well mine goes through this process, the light turns blue then goes back to the purple, like it is not connected.
the fix it yourself option changes your DNS to talk to their server then you restart the hub and it auto updates. But it seems this will only work if your wink is already able to connect to your network.

Just got an email from Amazon Echo. They are now supporting 3 types of devices through the Wink hub. Unfortunately I don't have any of those devices.

quote:can you elaborate? what devices? and what do you mean? like you can tell the echo to control the devices and it does it through the wink? if so i might actually get an echo now

You can now control even more connected home devices with your voice using Amazon Echo. In addition to controlling lights and switches from Belkin WeMo and Philips Hue, Echo now supports Wink.
Wink is a home automation hub that allows you to control devices in your home. Today, we're introducing support for Wink compatible devices from GE, Leviton, and Lutron—with even more coming soon.
To get started, setup your Wink HUB and compatible devices, then connect Echo to your Wink HUB in the Echo App. Once this is complete, simply say, "Alexa, discover my devices." After Echo's confirmation, just ask:
"Alexa, turn on the stereo"
"Alexa, turn on the office light"
"Alexa, turn off the fan"
"Alexa, turn off the outdoor decorations"
Echo supports these Wink compatible products:
Leviton's Decora Plug-In Appliance Control switch
Lutron's Caseta Plug-In Lamp Dimmer
Select GE LED lights
Can't wait to tell Alexa to open my garage door.

Update from my 3 different dimmer experiment
Lutron CASETA In Wall Dimmer (retails for $59ish, got it on close out at Target for $40) best of the bunch as far as install and features a remote.
Leviton ZWAVE In Wall Dimmer ($45ish) also pretty easy to install and it looks good and has a row of LEDs along the top that travel to the left & right depending on if you are turning on or off as well as a green LED at the bottom that is on when the switch is off.
GE/Jasco ZWAVE In Wall Dimmer ($40ish) brings up 3rd place but also functional and will need a white/neutral (usually pigtailed in back of the elecrical box) and has a blue LED
You an actually turn off the blue LED on the GE switch by doing the following: (Three fast presses on the top rocker, followed immediately by one press on the bottom turns the led off completely)
WINK Functionality
Pros
- All 3 work properly. I turn them on and off and dim them and there's no real issue there. They are in a group in WINK and I can control all 3 with a single shortcut on my smartwatch, tablet and phones. No problems so far with on/off or dimming via WINK
- Lutron has NEVER failed in an outage but the radio is proprietary
- If you are trying to establish a larger zwave mesh network, consider leviton or GE over lutron because they will act as repeaters to pass the zwave commands along to other devices.
Cons
- GE pairs using the generic 'zwave switch' option.
- Leviton and Lutron both have a nice wizard and actual items listed in the listing so setup for both of these was very easy. However the older leviton switch will use the generic 'zwave switch' option in WINK as well.
- Lutron gets the nod because it not only looks the best, has the best features in the box (3 different faceplate colors) but also an in-wall remote you can mount which can serve as the 'second switch' if you are using in a 3-way (2 switches one light) configuration.
- If you are wanting more zwave repeaters, then go with one of the others over the lutron.
So there you go. All 3 work, but different experiences with pairing.

Bump again.
Added a new friend to my WINK ecosystem: the CREE wifi bulb.
so far its worked as advertised, dimming is great and i like the light output much better than the GE bulbs.
for the same price, i'd definitely get CREE over GE
same as 4flow design, so note the LITTLE GREEN part on the bottom so you don't accidentally forget which CREE is smart.

I have been using that Leviton for over a year now with no issues. I wish that button could be used as a manual on/off, but other than that I have no complaints.

I've put thousands of Linear PS15Z-2 in the field and haven't seen any real issues.
