I just said it was good to have friends. I can't say where and run the risk of them getting in trouble or me not getting the hook up anymore.

You can pre-sign for it once you get a tracking number.

Finally got through on Apple.com, Apple isn't allowing grandfathered unlimited's to preorder. You have to go through Verizon or wait til 9/19 and try and get one in a store.

I have a grandfathered plan and was able to order last night around 2 AM. They did not change my plan, and the email states that I still have my original data subscription.

Anyone have any idea how to carry over your current discounts to your new contract?

My wife gets $15 off for mobile share and about $7 for national account plan discount with ATT.

Trying to call them now but I was just wondering. Thought about going and pre-ordering but figured it would be a pain in the arse to go back after the fact.

I got up at 3 AM (EST) and it took a little over a half hour to order my phone. This morning I woke up to three emails from AT&T confirming my order. The first two stated that my phone would be send in 14-21 day. The final email indicated an estimated shipping date for my phone for October 13-22.

Did Apple under produce this phone that badly? Why do I see people that ordered after me claiming they have shipping dates in September?

As I said last night every iPhone I've ever ordered has been a royally fricked up experience and this one appears to be no different. At the end of the day it really doesn't bother me to wait for the phone but at some point in time they need to reward loyal customers and those that do the early orders.

I would hate to be someone waking up this morning and ordering a phone. They're probably into a 2015 delivery by now.

You won't need to. Show up at a rural [AT&T/Verizon/Sprint] store next Friday when their UPS guy gets there - around 10 am - and you should get one easily. Also Apple stores get new ones every morning.

The bullshite surrounding iPhone releases seems to get worse and worse every year.

First the live stream f'up. No worries, just followed a blog

Then the fact that they made the bigger phone materially better. Annoying, but I got over that.

Now, Apple completely FUBAR's the pre-orders. Carrier sites were most likely unresponsive because the people who were expecting to use a functional Apple site fled to the carrier sites.

So people get up early, pound away at whatever site seems to halfway work until they get an order, or a reservation, or an IOU or whatever the hell we're calling these, with non-sensical shipping dates all over the place.

I would expect this from a new company like OnePlus...in fact, they handled their supply chain issues MULTIPLES better than Apple has over the past few launches.

This is waaaay too much fail from a company as big and well capitalized as Apple. I don't know if this shite is even worth it.

It wasn't a rant because it was spot on.

I had to send an email to Steve Jobs office the first time I ordered a phone because AT&T and Apple couldn't communicate and realize that I had an available upgrade. For over three weeks I'd order a phone on an upgrade through Apple and then have the order canceled because they couldn't get AT&T to confirm the available upgrade.

I don't even remember what happened when I ordered my current iPhone but it wasn't a smooth and pleasant experience.

Now here we are again and they still can't get it right. At this point they should only give an order date for the phone and not give release dates like September 18th at all because it isn't a realistic date for the vast majority of the orders.

Basically said "screw it" on my current plan and will fight with ATT after the fact to have discounts added back to my account.

Went through the Apple Store website and selected to have it delivered to the Apple store. And it's showing "available 9/19".

 They only initially ordered 60 million to be made. It takes time to make millions of anything.

My confirmation page said deliver by 9/19. My confirmation email said deliver by 9/19. But I checked my order status today and it says 10/6...

A guy I work with was successful in doing that through Fed-Ex last year.

I've done that in the past. I think once you get a tracking number you can request it be held at FedEx over off of coursey
