I have a real first world problem here... my daughter qualified for the Drive Chip and Putt in August in April 2022.... starting to get all the correspondence from Augusta... and absolutely no cell phones allowed - but cameras are allowed - any suggestions to a pretty high qualify traditional camera? We had a really nice one in 2008 which I am sure is obsolete... Please let me know. Thank you :-)

Some are better for still shots while others are for video recording.
Are you more interested in still photos or recording? What price range are you looking at? You can get some great cameras in the 500 dollar range.

Best Cameras in the 500 dollar range.
These are the best entrly level dlsr cameras. You couldn't go wrong with any of the cannon rebel models.

If you don’t want to fiddle around with buying lenses, or doing that much post editing, the Fujifilm x100v is the best “point and shoot” you can get. (It’s a little pricey but Fuji’s colors straight out of camera can’t be beat, and the camera holds its value very well if you want to sell it after the fact)
Second option is the Sony zv-1. Sony just released an upgraded version (that doesn’t have a fixed lens) so you can find lightly used ones on eBay for cheap.
Both take good quality video as well as pictures

Crop sensor, get a Fujifilm. Image quality is incredible.
Full frame, get a Sony A7 III. The A7 IV just came out, the III is stellar and not pricey for a FF camera.
If you want good action shots, you'll want a camera with really good autofocus tracking. The Sony wrote the book on it.

I have the Canon SL2 which is a solid camera that wasn’t that expensive. I think under $500 as others have suggested. It has Wi-Fi, 5 still frames a second (I believe the t8i a slightly more expensive body will get 7 still frames a second) 24 megapixels, which is plenty for my needs.
Personally, I would focus more on getting a high-quality lens, the body while important is limited by how good the lense is. I have three lenses a 18-200 Tamron lense, a 70-300 Canon and a 50mm Canon, with F1.4 great for low light. I mostly use my Canon at sporting events so having a good zoom lense is important to me. However, the 50mm lense is great in low light situations as the low F stop allows a lot of light in when I need it.

If you are just looking to get pictures for this one event, and not really invest in a long term solution, consider renting instead of buying. I've used LensRentals many times to try out gear before buying, or for stuff that I don't need but one or 2 times. You can get a high quality setup like an A7iii and a 70-200 2.8 for $250-300 for an entire week. They will ship to your house, and provide a pre-paid label to ship back.

Not sure if it helps or not, but I have rented cameras from lensrentals.com when trying to figure out what I wanted. Might save you some buyers regret or be able to take a more expensive camera for such an important event. They have always been great to me.
**edit** damn it took me a long time to post this reply, stupid phone call. But I agree with the poster above me.

LensRentals is the best.
My only concern would be that you fall in love with it and want to buy one after the fact anyways. You can spend $400 renting a kit then $1600 buying it. Lol.

Any recommendations for something geared more towards video recording around the $500 price range? My son does youtube and twitch and his inexpensive webcam has finally bitten the dust and my wife considers her self some what of a shutterbug. Not really looking for anything top of the line but something that will give both of them a decent quality.
