Hopefully its closer to 500. That's my point I will not go over. 550 at max. 499 for G3 is too tempting.

looks like there is a 64g variant. Its prolly 649 and the 32 is maybe 549. Does it have removable battery and micro sd? Wasn't sure they would push that for this phone. Did the nexus 5 have it?

Also, this looks like the big brother to the new moto x. So I guess that is the "nexus 5 2014" after all.

Yep no way I'm spending 649. Looks like I will be getting the LG G3. $150 cheaper than an unknown and phone that I was already worried about being too big.

What's the benefit of buying the phone now that the price is that of other phones off contract?

The 32 is 649, the 64gb is 699. No removable battery and no micro sd. Really nice phone but the price point is the same or much higher as the main flagship phones that have the microsd and removable battery.

Does it have ... micro sd?

I doubt it. There are a number of problems that need to be overcome before Google will consider adding SD cards to Nexus devices.

1. SD cards are generally formatted FAT (for maximum compatibility), which has no concept of file ownership. This doesn't work well in a multi-user OS, which is the direction Google is pushing Android.

2. If there was more widespread support for ext4, we could format SD cards with that to solve the multi-user problem, but then we have the problem of portability. What happens when you put your card in another device?

3. If the other problems could somehow be solved, we still have the issue of placing the mental burden of "where do I put my stuff" on the user. Do I just put all my files and media on the SD card, and have the OS and apps on the internal storage? What if I skimped on internal storage because I know I have the SD slot, but then I fill it up? Do I install some apps on the SD card, making them slower to launch, and then lose the apps when I switch cards? What if I fill the SD card with media, but I have many gigs left on the internal storage, so I start putting media there, too? Now my stuff is disorganized.

I am a huge, huge supporter of expandable storage, but the more I think about the reasons for eliminating SD cards, the more I see why it's not worth the trouble.
