About to be in the market for a new washer good for a family with kids and a dog. Any recommendations on brands or models or places to get good deals at the moment?

I have a Maytag Bravos with the glass lid. It's a great washer. I've tried a bunch.

Nvmnd. Looks like they don't make this model anymore.

You want him to pay to use his own washing machine?

I have this one. Works fine. As with any vertical agitator, some loose items (think female stuff like bra straps and dainty shoulder straps/belts etc) will get wrapped up but it's a minority of washes.

Had a LG front loader for 12 years with no issues. Got rid of it for an LG top loader only because I hate front loaders. Have kids and dogs. Got the 5.0 cft capacity version and it fits a ton. No problems yet after two years

We bought one a few months back, love the thing. Replaced a front load LG that was starting to leak and mold up. It's nice to have a washer that fills up with water and actually cleans.

All good replies so far and most I would recommend.

Old Maytag brand (Kenmore included). Just go by a repair shop and walk out with a set for $400. Those things will run forever and are easy to fix.

I'm on about the 5th year with the Maytag commercial set. It's fast and it just works. Simple operation and most importantly no mold issues. Highly recommend.

I’d suggest asking a appliance repair company on units they least have to repair or ones that easiest to repair or find parts

Bought a Speed Queen TC5 model earlier this year. It has an agitator and actually fills with water to cover the clothes. A normal cycle takes less than 30 minutes to finish. It feels solid and well built.

So far we are very happy with the purchase.

SQ top load is the best we have had. No front load failures.
