Going from a Sonos Link hardwired system with Control 4 speaker zones. New house isn't hardwired anywhere.

I like the Sonos app setup now, but am wondering what else is out there. Figuring some Sonos Ones throughout the house, and a Move in the covered and open patio.

Basement will have a dedicated receiver/surround sound (recs also appreciated), and would like access to 2.1 wifi sound for rec area (tower stereo?). TVs besides that will have soundbars.

Any recs would be appreciated. Price is not a factor. I consider myself an audiophile, but convenience is king at this point in my life.

I was in the exact same situation with our new place that we bought a few months ago. Nothing is gonna sound like it did hardwired. The Sonos soundbar is good but not anything special. Where they get you is ease of use and connectivity. It sounds decent enough and my wife and kid can work it if I’m not home. I left my 2.1 system for the sun room to blast away in when I can.

ETA: I looked at KEF, Dali, and Yamaha. If the Yamaha soundbar and subwoofer paired better together I might have kept them. The crossover is so damn high it was hard to watch regular tv…my living room has a vaulted ceiling and the sound just boomed everywhere. Cranked up, it sounded great for the price. App not bad either.

there you go. It doesn't get any easier than Sonos and you can run Ethernet to one of the speakers and it will set up it's own bulletproof wireless network.

One of the best smart home things I've bought. Zero regrets.

I don't think anything is easier than Sonos. I purchased a Bose 700 soundbar and base module. I keep it about a week. It keep turning off after being on for a while. I tried all the things they said to try and finally said F it. I paid way to much for this to have to turn it off and back on to make it work. The funny thing is it would never happen at the same interval and after you turned it off and back on it would stay on till you turned it off at night. I returned it for a Sonos beam and sub and haven't had any connectivity problems with it and I think the Sonos sounds better than the Bose. I may add two One SL's to my current setup and I would also like to see what another sub added in would sound like.

It's not but the OG Apple Homepods beat the breaks off of sonos (and I own both). However, the OG HomePod is now dead but I fully expect Apple to re-enter the super expensive/great sounding smart speaker game again very soon.

Is the Arc soundbar considered over priced? I noticed no one mentioned it.

I’m following as I’m thinking of going the Sonos route.

I have the bose 700. It took awhile to connect but it was good after that; however, I feel the sound sucks. It sucks even with the bass module. My polk signa s2 and s3 blows the bose out of the water

I’ve got an Arc and sub in living room. It’s good but not great. I think you’re paying for the connections. If I just wanted a soundbar and sub I woulda bought something for half the price, but I wanted to connect it to kitchen without having my wife ask me to help every other time.

winner winner chicken dinner.

Wife says she can't wait for me to pass so she can rip out every smart switch in the house but she loves her some Sonos.

Might be the only product in SONOS lineup that isn’t overpriced.

I just remembered you wanted me to look at something for you. Been crazy times.

Feels like an understatement. No rush but it’s something I’m starting to think about again. Let me know when you have time to discuss further.

So, I just priced out the house and have a bit of sticker shock. Almost $1k for the Arc soundbar? I need three of those, 4 Ones, 2 Fives, 1 Move for covered patio, and at least 1 sub. It's a new house, and I have more important projects lol

I'm hardwiring (dual tube amps) in the basement, but like the convenience of Sonos around the rest of the house.

Any other wifi options worth a damn? Denon or JBL?

Lastly, is 3.1 a thing? Thinking dual Sonos Fives, Arc, and sub in the living room, but worried it might be overkill. Any Sonos/wifi audio anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!

i had my sub on the back porch paired with 2 3s and it sounded amazing but i brought it in and connected it to the TV playbar and a couple of 1s.

the 1s are on sale (2 pack) all the time at costco and if you hit buyselltrade up (or your wife's buyselltrade) you can find deals all the time on 1s.

i dont have any 5s but can't imagine needing a stereo pair of them. i'd rather have smaller speakers sprinkled all over the house.

at the moment i have

2 1s in the big living room (stereo separated on the large bookshelf..perfect size and sound for the room)

1 1 in the kitchen

1 1 in the dining room

2 3s on the back porch

playbar, sub, 2 1s in the den w/ the big tv

1 1 in my home office

1 1 in our master bathroom.

1 1 used as a floater if we want to take it out by the pool or the front porch. its not designed to live outside.

if i ever find a good deal i would like to add at least 3 more 1s:

1 in the pool room
1 in the bar
1 in my wife's hair salon

Don't need arcs on every TV, the beam works just fine for connecting TV audio into Sonos system.

I'm sure 5s are great but it seems like they're more intended for standalone(paired even) use vs. a part of a home theater connected to a TV.

Been back and forth about rears for my living room setup and leaning more and more to in ceiling speakers for it hooked up to sonos amp.

Also the Symfonisk speakers from Ikea are a good replacement for 1s and are somewhat easier to hide depending on your setup.
