Need Replacement for Directv

I know there is a massive Cord Cutting thread, but it's way above my head. I have had Directv for several years, but it has become way too expensive ($187.00/month). I have internet through New Wave Communications for $77.00/month. AT&T does not have internet service in my area.
My current setup is: 3 Smart TVs (two are Rokus, one is an outside TV that I use for watching sports through an antenna and streaming). I have DVR boxes for the inside 2 Smart TVS (one in the living room and one in the bedroom).
I have quite a bit of content saved on my DVR, so I will hate losing it when I switch. I record much of the content so I can watch it when I want.
My primary viewing habits are: HBO, Netflix, Discovery, ID, Reelz, ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Fox News, Comedy Channel, Disney (for grandkids), HGTV, and DIY.
What would be the best setup for me? TIA.

Streaming is really easy to switch over to. I’m not a young person either but it’s really simple. The YouTubeTV interface is very simple.

I second YoutubeTV. Been on it for a year and kids and wife have no issues navigating the interface. We already had netflix, hulu, and disney+ so no hidden or added needs. Pay $80/mo for a 2tb internet service and have my own modem. YoutubeTV started at $50/mo i think and is now $65. Still saving plenty between cable service with extra movie channels that never seemed to have anything worth watching and monthly equipment fees.

Where I live, YouTubetv doesn’t offer me the ability to watch the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, or Cleveland Cavs so it’s a hard pass. If you watch fox sports regional I’d double check that.
Spectrum offered me the ability to stream their traditional cable package with no box for $69/month and it wasn’t a promotional price. So I get every channel my cable company offers plus all of my sports.
We’ll see how it goes but so far so good.

Check with dish. It was same cost as streaming when I checked.

Let it go.

There are a few sites to look at, but I use [link=(www.reelgood.com)]Reel Good[/link] to see who is streaming the shows/movies I like. They will have full seasons so you can binge from Season 1.Episode 1, or find the episodes you like.
You can also look at the channel line-ups on HuluTV, Philo, Sling, or YouTube TV. That will help breakdown what the best streaming service will be for you. Personally, I like Hulu Live (pay the extra $6 to avoid commercials) and it has most of the channels you listed (Discovery, ID, ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, Disney, HGTV). Looks like it does not have Comedy Central, Reelz, or DIY.
Also, through HuluTV you can do the full package of Hulu Live (w/ no Ads on streaming, will have ads on Live TV), Disney+, ESPN+, HBO Max. My total TV bill is $92.98 and I can manage everything from one place.
Edit: Forgot to add, if you can do without the Live TV on Hulu; you can get all of that Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+ & HBO Max for $34 a month. And you will still have your antenna TV for live local channels

How many simultaneous connections with Youtube TV?
Posted on 1/25/21 at 10:03 am to northLAgoomba
I was in the same boat as you a few months back. I had a bundle with AT&T and DirectTV. My cable bill was up over $130ish. Canceled and went with the 2 week YouTubeTV trial. By the end of the 2 weeks, DirectTV called me and gave me the same package for under the $65 of YouTubeTV. Greater than 50% off what I was paying, for 1 year, no contract.

I had Dish for 20 years and was paying about $160 cause I had 6 TV's and the cost of the devices to run is where the price goes stupid.
We went with HULU because of the HIstory channel. We get just 2 streams, but there are just 2 of us, so that isn't an issue. I'm now paying $65 for that and can watch it on any TV in the house (8 in total). I would avoid Direct/Dish just for that. If they would offer their whole stuff without the equipment cost, I would go back to them.

I have Directv with 3 DVRs 235 channels for $90 a month. For my other TVs that don't have a Directv box. I add whatever channels I like to watch to my Roku and use my Diretv login to watch using the Roku. I have 50+ channels on my roku bedroom tv ESPN, FS1, History, Discovery, HGTV, Food, Animal Planet.......all available with no Directv box.

I had a similar setup with DirecTv Genie system. Negotiated some discounts, but it was over $200 at full price after they expired. HBO, Showtime, Premium sports package, etc,
I called and told them I wanted to keep what I had but needed to get the price down. The first person you talk to can’t do much of anything, but eventually they will put you through to a retention specialist, likely American, and they have some discretion. Just keep asking if they can do any better until they say that’s it. Got it down to 145. When that runs out in a year, I’ll call again if I plan to stay with them.
I’m willing to pay that for all I get, the convenience, and DVR.

Hmm. Does the direcTV app let you do this by itself, or only if you have something like roku?
I ask because I asked Dish if I could keep their service and use the dish app on TV's and they said it would not work. It would seem to me they are losing customers by not making it available without the equipment costs.

Roku doesn't have the Directv app. You have to add each individual channel app you want to your Roku and login using your Directv login. Most every channel now has a streaming app except my local channels that I get OTA

Got it.
I'm stupid because what I would like to do is go back to direct/dish, but still use the coax but not need the equipment.
I guess that makes no sense, casue you would use internet, and I worry about an internet outage causing my wife to not be able to watch her shows on the big screen.

My mother in law is 78 and switched from DirecTV to YouTube TV to save money. She bought 2 fire sticks and uses those. She figured it out in less than a day. If she can do it, you can.
