I think I may have the ultimate waste of time; back in the early 1990s I remember sitting at my Macintosh IIci meticulously putting in every single one of my 2000 audio CDs and typing the names of each track in from the back cover of the CD..even getting the special characters right for the weird foreign track titles.

Then I realized those track titles would only show up on that one Mac..and then CDDB came out...

What have you spent an ENORMOUS amount of wasted time on?

Back in the 80's I learned how to hand letter architectural dwgs with a chiseled pencil lead. Now with CAD, I don't get to impress people with my lettering skillz.

In the early 80's, when I was like 13, I was a whiz at writing computer programs in BASIC. I was going to be the next great computer programmer and was going to build my fortune writing BASIC programs.

Didn't quite pan out.

Absolutely it counts, and man those were the days.

I was into it just enough to be able to get TV, but not enough at the time to really understand it all. I had a programmer, and I remember downloading all the activation scripts and shite. I also remember all the updates leading up to black sunday.

I'm not sure if it was before or after black sunday, but at one point I got an emulator board and set up a pc with all that. It was much more stable and less prone to being fricked with than using cards directly.

THANK YOU NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY

i have a funny story about this..the CEO of the company i still work for saw me and a co-worker walking to the library at lunch one day and by the time i got back to my desk he had already sent an email saying he knew exactly what we were up to; copying library DVDs.

i couldn't believe he put 2 and 2 together so fast.

I spend hours doing income tax pre computer days.
