My wife is on a cruise and can send

Facebook Messages to her mom using messenger and her mom can read them and respond..
BUT my wife's messages aren't getting thru to me or mine to her using fb messenger..
But, I can send her mom messages thru fb messenger and her mom gets them..
Any idea why my wife and I cant get this g going?
Btw, I have an android and my wife and mother in law have iphones..

Id recommend Whatsapp, we use on cruises without issue.

Yep. My wife went on Greek cruise recently and WhatsApp worked like a charm

It was her internet plan on the ship. I received her messages late last night.

Wait....your wife is on a cruise without you and she is claiming she can communicate via Facebook messenger with her mom, but somehow not you?
I know this isn't the OT, but something is fishy.
In reality, its probably because they both have iMessage and you don't. Like everyone else said, try WhatsApp.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but almost all cruises have onboard messaging within their specific apps. Its free to use while you are on the ship even if you don't have the wifi package.
edit: Nevermind. I reread what you wrote and it seems like might not also be on the cruise.

Notification servers, cruise ships can't block notifications because it will break their app that they allow customers to use without buying wifi if they blocked Apple and Google notification servers.
This makes it so some apps are able to send messages randomly through the ship wifi without buying the internet package. Especially if they are small messages without pictures or other media like emojis.
Are you using RCS messages on your Android? Try sending your wife a normal RCS short text. Those will sometimes go through.

I was checking to see if he was using the google messenger capable of RCS and advising him to try it to message his wife. It also works sporadically when someone is connected to ship wifi without paying for the internet package to get messages on their iphone.
If he is still living in the SMS/MMS dark ages by using a different messenger, those won't go through as they don't use the notification servers.
His wife needs to be connected to the ship wifi using the cruise line app.
