damn. this is one area apple has on lock. i wish some obvious basic functionality would just be consistent across android builds.

I'm still using playbox on the chromecast because cartoon HD doesn't cast in app. You have to cast screen from chromecast and leave the phone awake. Sucks balls.

So what do you guys use Evernote for? I've seen it before, I see many of you recommending it, but I'm not sure it would be useful for me.

install localcast
lauunch cartoon hd, find the video hit play.
click 720p, click 'custom' and choose localcast to cast to chromecast
enjoy or click 'add subtitle' to pull in a subtitle.
turn phone off.

Oh. I have localcast app already. I'll have to try it. Honestly I just haven't been using the chromecast since I bought a fire stick. Moved the chromecast to outdoor patio.

Ok, well what do you use Google Keep for?
Posted on 8/3/15 at 11:29 pm to GeauxColonels
I haven't used google keep. I do use evernote... though not religiously.
The basic premise is that it stores and organizes a variety of notes and content for projects you may be working on.
On the left side you generally see a list of notebooks. The middle pane is sort of a snapshot of the title and first sentence of content of each page (sort of like email) and the right side is the full page content of whatever page you're on.
You might have notebooks for work related projects, food (recipes), drink (wines you've had including tasting notes), topical journals (hobbies, astronomy, political, sports related, etc.), travel journals, scrapbooks, meditation or creative writing journals, diary, to-do lists, etc.
I mostly keep typed notes on a few topics in my account. It syncs reasonably well between my home and work computers and phone. Beyond just typing things out, I know there's a lot of flexibility to cache web pages / copy web page content that might be relevant to whatever your project is. I think you can store a variety of files like pdfs, jpgs, maybe Word files, etc. And I think you can store audio files if you take audio notes. You can create tags to help search through your files more quickly if you have a lot. And so on.
It's not necessarily world-changingly better than just having a couple of notebooks and a small pad for to do lists either. As with anything that helps you organize, it's good to the extent you actually use it.
They have free accounts, which is adequate for me, but if you're a power user and really get a lot out of it, they have paid accounts that give you more online space and other features.

I have probably a couple hundred keep notes.
Recipes are a big one.. Shopping lists.. Love being able to share a Christmas list with my wife and she can check off what she's bought so we are more efficient.
When I need to make a quick run to Lowe's I can make a list and not forget anything.
Having multiple colors is great.. All recipes are yellow notes for instance.
Notes always at your fingertips whether you're on a PC or your phone.

I use CamScanner for work almost daily.
Take a photo of a document or anything you want to crop and format into a pdf or jpeg and email it straight from the app.
I use Office Lens for this. Take a picture of a piece of paper, a whiteboard, whatever and it will do this too.
