It goes solid orange here right? And you have to do the process twice before it prompts for Alternate?

1. Add them one at a time. Don't even plug in the other speakers.
2. Do the factory reset on each one before you attempt to add it. The speakers can get into an unstable state if they "sort of" install.
3. Android or iOS app? Sometimes the iOS app just works better.
4. Plug in, wait for blinking green light then go to "add speaker" in app.
5. It SHOULD go forward 2-3 screens where it identifies you are trying to set up a play 1.
6. Let it run and error out.
7. UNPLUG SPEAKER.
7. Use the "alternate setup" option when it presents it to you. DO NOT PLUG IN ETHERNET YET AND DO PLUG IT IN YET !!
8. follow prompt EXACTLY. Connect Ethernet only after it says to.
9. Connect power to speaker when it prompts you AND WAIT FOR FLASGING GREEN!! MAKE SURE YOUR SPEAKER IS FLASHING GREEN.
10. Follow prompts and it should connect and then begin software update immediately. This is a good if you make it to this point.
11. Once the software update is done..UNPLUG IT IMMEDIATELY AND DISCONNWCT ETHERNET.
12. Set it somewhere nearby and plug it in again and just wait and see what happens.
Did it straight through, twice, same result. So it took two total resets and 4 restarts. It's the step of hitting the buttons when green. It errors out when wired as well.
When I hit the two buttons to connect it goes straight to blinking orange. Does not prompt app at all. Then blinks for awhile until it goes solid.

Do you see it using Android app?
Logged in to your Sonos account on iPad?
Have you created a Sonos login?

Yeah just try it wirelessly until you get the prompt.

The Ethernet setup dance is tricky.

As usual great advice and insights from tigerwiseass.

I bought a Sonos a few weeks ago. Returned it the next day. Thought it was a massive waste of money for what it does.

So I don't think Sonos is for everyone. No argument there. It's great for multiroom audio with no wires (minus power, of course) for folks without a multi-zone receiver.
I will say TigerWise and CAD were right though. I recently added the Sonos sub to my playbar and connect:amp setup and that single item made the most difference to the overall sound in my living room.
Is that setup completely expensive, yep. Is it worth it to me and my family checking the wife/kid list? absolutely.

Freauxzen, any updates? I'm wondering if you can ethernet to a different router and try?
As in, do you have ATT Uverse and also have their gateway that they force you to use?

I'm nervous that Sonos might have their first ever confirmed kill.

Run speaker wire and get a multi zone amp and receiver

Well the other reason I was upset is because I'm out for 5 days on business, so I thought it would be easy to setup and leave. Soooo...no updates until I try again next weekend.

I hate how Sonos takes the whole system down until you update the app.
I bet if they didn't do that you could probably find an older apk that still works to get the speakers connected then update to the current version.
But noooooooooo
