What is the boards best choice for streaming Kodi? So far I have researched and I am considering both the jail broken Amazon fire stick or Amazon fire TV box. I loaded Kodi on my computer and I am impressed with it but I want to get a stand alone device for my Kodi viewing needs much like my Roku 3.

It's cheaper just to do it yourself. It takes like 15 minutes.

Tech Board.

Also, what is your idea of "fully loaded" ?

Go to Amazon. Type in Matricom G Box. Purchase for $89-$100. Get it in the mail by next Monday. Sideload TVMC in about 30 seconds. = "fully loaded"

same here.

officially cord free at the Klark residence. Who needs a cord with 105Mbps @ $65/month and TVMC?

I'm about to buy a 2nd Gbox for the bedroom.

Are your devices hard-wired or wireless? I have half of the house hard-wired and have been putting off doing the half with great room and master BR. OCD tells me to finish the job but getting to that side of the house in the attic is going to be a bitch.

This.

Easy to do. I've done about 10 of them for friends and all take less than 5 minutes to setup

you're going to think I'm bullshitting you. but the entire house is wireless.

we aren't talking a massive house tho. Not OT Baller standards at all. a small starter home with 3 bedrooms. centrally located living room (where my modem/router is). i also have a netgear wifi extender in the man cave. In the living room and adjacent master bedroom. I easily get 85D, 15U, and a <20ms ping. That's on the 5ghz wifi band. In the bedrooms further away, we connect them to the 2.4ghz band, thru the wifi extender. And they run around 45D, 8U, and 30-40ms ping.

To do this. I went out and purchased the best modem and router I could tho. And I think it is paying off.

Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 Modem
Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Router

I've had this setup for a month and the only concern or issue is on my Xbox One in the Man Cave, my ping/latency is ~40ms. And I think that's more to do with the Xbox One's wifi card than it's connection, because in the same spot I can connect using an ipad, iphone, or laptop and my ping is less than 20ms.

I've got the GBox MX2 Midnight. If I get another box for Kodi, I'd get a FireTV instead. I've had quite a few problems with the GBox that obviated the whole advantage of buying a preinstalled box.

You might as well go ahead and set up Kodi yourself if you get the Gbox, because you're going to end up reinstalling firmware and everything eventually anyway. Their stuff is buggy, and it will take a lot of troubleshooting (or at least mine did).

I also have issues handling HD streams. Video processing power doesn't really seem up to it. The later models MX3 and such might be better in that regard, though.

Also: my experience was that the Gbox (and Kodi in general) tend to work better over ethernet than wireless.

i didn't want to be a dick to the guy bragging about the pre-loaded android box, but the specs on that thing are basically the exact same as a firetv box, with the exception of 4K. you need to tweak the default cache in Kodi to better handle HD streams, so i can't imagine how you'd be able to stream 4K...let alone find 4K anywhere on Kodi. i've never seen it. maybe netflix has 4K. i just don't see the advantage of that box over the firetv box.

My next thing is going to be a intel computestick and ill just load kodi on there. I find the sports streams to be just way too much trouble on the kodi app and its much easier to navigate the ads on your typical sports streaming site using windows than android.

Sorry for the following question, I am not up to date on all the streaming your TV info...

For those of you who use roku and all those other boxes, how do yall go about watching, say, the walking dead on Sunday's?? Do you get to watch them when everyone else does or do you have to wait a week or so?

There are apps that you can get for the boxes that essentially scrape the Internet for episodes or movies that are hosted on streaming sites. So, as soon as it's being streamed on the Internet, you can watch it.

For example.
The League Season 7 premiered tonight. I don't have normal cable or a DVR, but at 9PM I watched the season premier in HD via a stream.
I think it originally aired at 7 or 8 PM CSTz

Oh ok, thanks... I was JW because I have a few people every week to watch TWD (it's really the only TV show I watch)...

I'm tired of paying $140 a month for a TV, Internet, and house phone (which I don't even use) package
