Not familiar at all with the Surface Pro laptops. Looking at a family laptop mainly for web browsing, word documents, and powerpoint presentations. Saw a Lenevo Ideapad 1 15.6" Full HD Touchscreen Laptop - Ryzen 7 5700U with 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon Graphics - 512GB SSD on sale $480 (regular price $800) at Best Buy. The Microsoft Surface Laptop – Copilot+ PC – 15" Touch–Screen – Snapdragon X Elite – 16GB Memory – 256GB SSD (7th Edition) - Platinum is currently $1300. Any insight on these laptops is appreciated. I haven't purchased a laptop since buying a Macbook Pro in 2009.

I've had a Lenovo Thinkpad for nearly a year now. Love it.

Wait like 2 weeks and windows is releasing their new windows surface laptop. Think it has some new processor that’s supposed to make it as good and fast as apples silicon chips.

I believe these are the shittiest tier of Lenovo. I got one once for my assistant and it became unusable with a memory issue quickly. I still have it and I"m going to frick around with Linux using it one day.

I used to not really be one to look at materials like the case, until I got that shite box.

So the Surface line is pretty top-tier in terms of quality. That processor is new, but it supposed to be revolutionary. However, since it's a first gen, there may be issues.

I just got an Asus Zenpad (14") with the new Core 7 ultras. It was just on sale for $800 (I got it for $1k with the 2TD hard drive off Amazon)

It's the one he listed in OP (Snapdragon X Elite)

Also that has the super Microsoft AI (Copilot), which is kind of cool but also kind of scary.

I had a Lenova Yoga in college and really enjoyed it. This was in 2015.

For OP, these are in higher tiers than the Ideapad.

The Yoga slim has really great reviews. I was looking at that instead of the Zenbook I got.

They're meant for two different purposes. In your case, the Surface Laptop is overkill, and has half the storage of the Ideapad. I've been using the same IdeaPad for travel for seven years, and it's been perfectly fine.

I've had both for work. Lenovo 10 times out of 10.

The Surface line are good machines. We’re mostly Dell but have a few Surface Pros and Surface laptops amongst the management group. Solid and very few issues.
