re: I've never owned a drone or had any urge to own one until I saw Lily.

Relatively speaking, 20 minutes ain't bad.
Yeah, but a lot of these have swappable batteries. This doesn't as of yet and I wonder how hard it is to get to the battery with it sealed for waterproofing.
edit: doesn't look like you can get to the battery

No. In order to waterproof Lily, we had to strip away the ability to remove the battery pack. 20 minutes of flight time is just enough for you to not think about Lily and be in the moment.

Charge pack? Can't take long to charge at 20 minutes usage. Buy a charge pack, get your shots, recharge while taking a break or eating, etc.

2 hours is a long break

Would love something like this that could track a vehicle on a road course. Watching how you enter and exit turns would awesome. Wouldn't need as much flight time but spotted would be an issue.

Well that's why there is a ? there, haven't seen what the charge time is. 2 hours for 20 minutes seems terrible, I guessed 30-45 tops.

This thing is actually a drone. Which is one of the deal breakers for me. I cant fly it myself if i wanted to.

2 hours is the listed charge time.

2 hours is awhile, but I'm still convinced a third party will make battery packs for it.

oh I can see the military advancing this to include mini guns and being able to protect soldiers. Maybe I have played Call Of Duty to much

I doubt it has a mode with the right algorithm to not try and follow you around, but also not get too far away.

Would be sweet for my fireworks shows, but I don't know if it would get enough elevation or if it only shoots the camera toward the tracking device

I have a DJI Phantom 2+. Camera quality is pretty lackluster. Plus, new FAA guidelines/regulations on the horizon basically mean that you cant fly it "commercially" which is the only reason I have it. I have to fly it for personal use......in other words, free. It only has about a 15 minute fly time, but I have 2 batteries, so it's not really an issue. I think it has a range of like 5,000 feet.
Almost all insurances don't cover "aircraft damage" to property, so if you frick up, be prepared to pay. I have a million dollar business liability policy for a very small business, but they don't even offer a rider or option for UAV.
With Lily, the 20 minute fly time seems pretty bad if you're wanting to use it for things like in the video. You don't realize how quickly that time it up. Plus, if it's anything like other drones......you really won't even get that much time because it's set to "fly home" when the battery gets to a certain level.

Also have to keep in mind that the new FAA regulations coming down the pipe mean that you won't be able to fly within 5 miles of an airport, higher than 500', or after sunset.

As these advance, there are possibilities for terrorist uses (no not predator style). Will be interesting to see how they handle those possibilities.
