I have had 5 or more Android phones and never had a single occurrence anything like this.

I have had 3 or 4 of them and did. its prob been 8-10 years since my last one so maybe they have improved.

I think the oneplus 6t mclaren may have been the last one I had and that would have been around 2018.

I will say this latest Apple update is pretty shitty. It added a lot of unnecessary steps on routine tasks

Certainly not saying you’re wrong, as everyone has different “routine tasks”, but I haven’t really noticed anything. Any in particular off the top of your head?

Not sure

I use both Windows and iOS devices fluently; Android just doesn’t feel as intuitive to me, in spite of that.

Yeah. I have no idea what this is even referring to. Gmail doesn't work? Nah.

My iPhone 3 gave me shingles.

Are Linux Mint and Windows the same? Obviously not. Things are organized differently on PCs and the phones depending on OS. I'm perfectly fine on the command line in DOS/Windows, I have known how to kill hung services for decades, etc.

I'm not jailbreaking any phone I own (nor could I with employer MDM,) so the appeal of being able to "do nerd stuff" on Android is no factor.

I don't really understand how this is responsive.

You act like "using a computer" means something. Computers are different, and arranged differently, in where settings are, etc. Apparently I should have gone partial retard on you and invoked AIX vs. Windows 11 to make the point that you don't add local users the same way or something.

You have many threads of people scared of Win 11, which is essentially the same thing as Win10, but with different cosmetics, and people are still afraid of it, which you don't pay attention to.

But, the transition from iOS to Google, and you're like, same/same. It's not, especially when you've been using an OS arranged a certain way for a decade or more. Azure vs AWS, it's all cloud, right? A tenant in AWS is the same as a tenant in Azure, and has the same security roles, right? Of course not.

If you don't want to see the other perspective, it's fine. But, everyone is not you, tech experienced or not. You can examine similar threads about Hulu/Sling/DirecTV sucking, because people aren't familiar or comfortable with the interface, however it works. There are people that still have Comcast cable TV. Why? Because their paw paw knows what channel the LSU game is on. It's inefficient and expensive, but it's their version of the WAF (wife acceptance factor.)

Yeah, I still don't get it, but that's an impressive amount of words. I think we would enjoy talking about it over coffee though.

I am loquacious if nothing else. Because I've been told my train of thought jumps around all over the place, I try to over explain context anywhere that isn't the OT. Coffee is on me if we're ever in the same place.

Have a great weekend. I just got told that an outsourcer actually owns my client's Azure tenant, including all AD, this morning, and the cutover date to the new outsourcer is five weeks away. We thought there was a lone domain controller to authenticate OCI that needed to be replicated, which was already a problem nobody anticipated. And then this.

When I laugh, that means it really sucks. I've laughed a lot this week.

Mostly what you're used to. When someone hands me an Android to troubleshoot, I find the UI to be extremely non-intuitive and difficult to navigate.

Of course I have an iPhone, but I also have a Pixel 10 Pro, and I find even basic operations confusing and non intuitive. I can't get the hang of I and certainly don't see what all the fuss is about. Once I do get it working ok what so great that it does that an iPhone doesn't, and vice versa?

It's extremely easy to use

It's all in what you're accustomed to using though

What basic operations do you find difficult on a Pixel phone?

I've been on Android since it came out at least 15 years now it seems. I finally switched to Apple this year and I absolutely HATE it. It feels like you're using an Android phone from 2017. Total boomer phone. I can't wait to switch back. The current Samsung's while they did have issues 10 years ago, really hit their strides now.

Like as basic as it gets . Like how to pull all the apps up to find the one I need. Right now I close all the open ones to get to em. Why aren't they'll just there on my background?

You can put them there if you want.

I don't want that cluttered mess

Yeah but they should be there by default. And then I'd have the option to move them off, not vice versa.
