My TCL is flickering and black spots are showing up. I am looking for a decent 65" tv. I don't need anything super fancy and would like to stay around $1k. I would also preferably like to buy it from costco. Thanks.

do picture quality options like Dolby Vision matter?

I don't even know what that means.

This what I have now

I watch mainly golf and football on it if that means anything.

How long did the TCL last?

I bought it two years ago tomorrow. I had the flickering repaired under warranty about 6-8 months of purchase.

Just bite the bullet and get a Sony or LG OLED

That is what I was looking at. $1200-$1300. I just didn’t know if one was better than the other.

based on your posts so far, it doesn't seem that picture differences will be noticeable to you.

If you are going to use the TV's internal apps, pick the one with the user interface you like the best.

If you are going to use an external streaming device, just pick the one with the HDMI ports you need and has the lowest price.

How old is your existing TCL? I've had three 65" for four years (inclunding one on the patio), and have never had any issues with them.

TCL is generally considered a solid TV maker. I have no personal issues with them, but......

Having said that, Costco specifically dropped TCL products because they were having extremely high numbers of unacceptable warranty claims with them.

Well that's concerning you already need a new TV, especially considering I have the same one.

I did get a 5 year extended warranty on mine.

65” lg c1 has been on sale on Amazon for some time now at $1596. I got one in July and I absolutely love it. I upgraded from a 48” 2005 Vizio. I think the C1 is now $2000 on Amazon but you can check with Cohns or other stores to see if they have one. I know this is slightly above your price range but I’d say it’s worth the extra cash for this tv.

It's weird but the newer C2 is actually $200 cheaper on Amazon than the C1.

in my area at least Costco has a sale on their Sony Bravia TVs. great prices.

I have a higher end Bravia and a higher end Samsung.

Bravia picture and color and processing is easily 25% better than the Sammy.

Sammy interface and OS is easily 50% better than the Bravia.

Bravia runs on Android I believe...which is the problem. Depends what's important to you. If you want the most gorgeous color repro and true videophile pic, it's Sony. BUT, I'd have a hard time selecting the Sony over the Sammy due to the wife factor and issues with firmware they seem to have. And the Sammy is beautiful in its own right.

once you choose you will be happy with anything. Both of those will blow away the TCL.
