a nexus phone and iphone 7 both in or out of cases aren't really much different. i don't see how you can say one is better than the other. certainly not to any extent that it would sway someone.

If AT&T carries a Google phone then I will get it. But I don't think that's happening.

How much time do you have?
In short, it would turn off, take longer than dial up to connect to the internet, wouldn't hold a charge longer than 3/4's of a day, it would turn off, it would turn off, it would drop calls, it would turn off.
I really don't see how they have dominated the cell phone market. Their phones suck. Big time. And, no, I'm not giving them another shot. I have done that TOO many times. They always say, "No, but srsly, they fixed all those issues." LOLZ
i initially loved the S4 until i encountered a ton of issues (typical laggy, turned off on its own, wouldn't hold charges, etc). I went through 1 brand new and 2 refurbs and all had their issues.
once i switched to something that was non-samsung, the experience has been much, much better...and it made me realize what a piece of shite samsungs can be.
I get it, no phone is perfect and even the most perfect phone can have its problems. But the sammy experience, at least for me, was enough to swear them off for good.

Yeah I don't have anything against Android. Just Samsung. I owned one of the first HTC's and it was a piece of crap (but that was back in like 2011). I don't know if HTC is good or not now.
I am honestly just impressed by how long iPhones last. I see people rocking 5s's and 6's and they are going strong. I would be lucky if my Samsung lasted 6 months. That's why I am considering the switch. I need a phone to work, not dazzle for 2 months and then go completely to shite (and still cost like 700 fricking dollars).

Is this the major knock on Samsung's?
They get extremely laggy after a couple of months?

Dude, I had my S5 for a little over a month when it would just turn off. Out of nowhere. Then, I wouldn't get phone calls or the calls would drop for no reason. Then, it would take FOREVER to go from website to website. Apps wouldn't open. It wouldn't charge or hold a charge. I mean, this was, at the time, THE flagship phone to have. It was the first "game changer" and it was a big fricking flop.
I tried to warn ILoveBama when he was looking for a phone. He ended up getting the S5 and about a month later started a thread apologizing for not listening to me.

You are wanting to do the payment plan stuff? You still have to pay taxes on the phone. You are still walking out paying about 100 then 30ish a month. If you bought a 6P or 5x, you would save in the long run and within a few months. I think the 5x's are in the 200's right now and the 6P might be close to the 200's.
If you hate it, sell it on swappa. You will get very smooth performance from stock android.

What's weird is that the S5 came out the same time the Note 4 did. I loved that phone. I just didn't realize that it was locked down and I couldn't root.
When it was on Kit Kat, it was smooth and perfect. Once Lollipops first iteration came, it was a piece of junk. After the update came for that, it was back to great for a stock phone. My wife has that phone still and it just got the marshmallow update and it is just as fast as ever. Very smooth and the camera is still top notch.

I'll look into it. The thought of a pure Google phone is VERY appealing to me (if that is what you are talking about).
Isn't BlackBerry running on Android now? I know people make fun of BlackBerry on here but honestly my Z10 was a heck of a lot better than my S5 in almost every single way but apps and camera.

Marketing bro. Unfortunately, marketing a shitty product at the detriment of android. This is the fricking problem. Google is finally figuring out that bad devices are being blamed on android/google because stupid fricking SJW trigglypuffs coming from iPhones. They think that the Apple/iphone sigularity where no other manufacturers run iOS applies to android. I guarantee you 95% of the iphone users that try android get a Samsung device. They think that's "the" android device. Just read this board for proof. You dont have to look far.
Google best push the frick out of the Pixel brand because Samsung has been killing my android and giving it a bad rap. Could you imagine if apple opened up iOS to be run on other manufacturers? How about an iOS galaxy S7? Sounds peachy huh?

Having the Nexus line of phones is VERY similar to having an Iphone. Since the company that does the OS also does the phone, you get pure stock greatness. The updates come first and unhindered by brands like Samsung and ATT. You don't have to wait at all. You will get monthly security updates. Once you are tired of the way it looks or handles, you can Root and mess with the kernel (very very easy stuff to do).

I find this weird to even care about whether Iphone or Android. 95% of people are going to put it in a case so who cares what it looks like? I'd rather it be made of plastic and be light as shite so when I put a case on it, it isn't heavy as shite. Glass breaks and is expensive. It just makes the phone more expensive to repair.
I liked the ability to easily swap out batteries and micro SD cards that the plastic backs gave
Most Android phones are now getting away from that but I always preferred the functionality over the trivial aesthetics
Eta: I now (since it's release last November)have a 6P with an aluminum back, but would prefer having the flexibility mentioned above

Samsung phones were the best phones for awhile to a large section of the USA because that was the best you could get on Verizon.
The first Nexus phone to come to Verizon was an absolute shite show and it was also a Samsung, lol. The next iteration of Nexus didn't even come to Verizon due to the Galaxy Nexus failure. Verizon has made life hell for most Android phones and a massive reason why the iphone has thrived there. Apple deserves massive thanks from Verizon users for what it did to Big Red in regards to OS updates. No one else could of taken that stand to tell Big Red to go frick itself at that point in history over OS updates and bloatware and won. Hell Samsung still hasn't done it for whatever reason.

I'm an android guy but I'll only do the nexus phones. Don't like the bloatware on other phones.
Thanks

I can't get familiar with an Android device..
Just doesn't feel natural to me..
I don't care for the Apple brand, but the iPhone is just incredibly easy for me to operate.
That's it.

Android is incredibly easy now also IMO
I had a friend that switched and it took him about 20 minutes to get the hang of it

Just too hard to believe. Sure some will pick it up quicker than others but i just cant see it taking more than a week to get it 99% down.
