I was thinking about upgrading to it from my Note 20 Ultra, but was looking at the specs on it and other than the camera it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. Is there something I'm missing. There is nothing wrong with my Note. Att was just offering a really good deal on them, so I was thinking about getting it.

Depends on what it will cost you. As far as day to day usage, I would say no. But if you get it for like $300, that'd probably be cheaper than what you'll pay to upgrade in a year or two.

Yeah it would be $5.56 a month for 36 months. That's for 512gb. Can get the iPhone 14 pro max with 256gb for the same price. Deal ends today.

In the world of hardware, there's a simple rule. If you need to upgrade: upgrade. If you don't: don't.

If you're happy with your current device, hang on to it. A new phone isn't going to change your life or anything.

I've got one in hand. It's great. I'd also pick it over the Fold 4.

I've had the Fold 4 and returned it. Really cool device. Once the novelty wears off I'd prefer a standard phone.

As a IPhone user that recently switched from Samsung devices if you’re not invested in anything Apple get the S23 Ultra. I miss a lot of features on the Samsung phone that this 14 ProMax simply don’t have. At the end of the day it comes down to if you want a feature rich phone like the S23 or a slightly better experience of user integration in Apple but a boring UI. I switched because I only ever used Android phones and wanted to see what the hype was with apple and my experience is just that and IOS 16 is just as buggy as any droid phone I’ve ever used. I’ve had multiple freezes and phone overheats with this phone.

my Note 20 Ultra

I'm looking at the same upgrade, but haven't researched much yet.

What I do know is that the camera on my wife's S22 Ultra is 1000% better than the one on my Note 20 Ultra 5G.

Not sure if it's due to hardware, software, or what. Maybe even lens damage, because the 3 different lenses on mine seem to perform very differently with how well they focus.

But even when my camera cooperates, it still isn't nearly as good as hers.

(ETA: The low-light performance is absolutely magic, and out-of- focus pics just never happen, even if the hardware specs on paper don't seem like much of an upgrade.)

If the S23 ultra camera is as good as the the S22 Ultra, then the upgrade is definitely worth it IMO, especially with the $1000 any-condition trade-in deal going on.

My only hesitations are:

1) not having an ext SD card, and 2) I currently have adhell3 working, and you never really know the adblock/root situation on a new device till you try it.

I would have pulled the trigger on the S22 Ultra, but the 512GB and 1TB models were sold out by the time I tried to buy.

(Samsung actually let me place the order, but then just put it in "pending" limbo for weeks since they lied and didn't actually have one to ship. But that's another story.)

I upgraded from a Note 20 ultra. Really liked the Note 20 ultra and wasn't too antsy to trade it out, but the release promotions got me...Traded in a Note 2 and Galaxy S3 for my wife that had both been sitting in my desk for almost a decade. The free upgrade to 512 GB also made the micro SD card loss easier to stomach.

As mentioned, I really liked the Note 20 ultra, and the form factor of the S23 Ultra is nearly identical. You can barely tell them apart from the front.

The most obvious upgrades after a week of usage are the camera and battery. Took them skiing, and this was probably the first time I did not feel bad about leaving my actual camera behind. My wife had the standard Note 20, and the camera upgrade from that was gigantic. The battery lasts forever. Only disappointment is the lack of micro SD, but the free memory upgrade helped that.

Otherwise, everything just seems extremely refined. The phone is lightning fast and the screen is beautiful. That said, I never found my note 20 ultra to be slow and the screen was beautiful on that too.

All said, it was a worthwhile upgrade and is a phone I'll be happy to use for likely the next 3 years. If you're happy in the samsung ecosystem, I can't imagine anyone would not like this phone. Whether it is worth the upgrade probably depends on how old your previous phone is.

Who accepted those old trade ins? And how much of a break did you get? When I was looking to upgrade a few years ago, no one would let me trade in my Galaxy S6.

AT&T, $1000 credit paid monthly. Looks like the trade in promotion is still ongoing. The free memory upgrade was a pre-release promotion. Some stores may have promotions on top of that - I got a $100 gift card from Best Buy.

Not trading in my phone and getting an unlocked version if I do so I'll have to start from scratch. Thought about OnePlus but doesn't work on Xfinity mobile

I got myself in a situation where I had to buy a new phone, and ended up with an Iphone 14. I hate it. Compared to droids everything is an extra couple of steps.
