Or is Apple going to make this thing not useable in 3 years? Is it too old to get now in hopes it’ll run very well for the next 5 years?

Apples will run without issues for quite a while, even with updates.

I've had an M1 Air for almost 3 years and it still runs great. I'd say it's still a buy for the right price.

No worries all. Apple ain't about to obsolete an M1 chip machine for years and years.

It's still relevant and will be for a few more years.

The base model (8/256) is on sale for $750 at Amazon and Best Buy.

I'd get the M2. Can be had for $899 this week I believe. Won't see a big boost from the M1 but has the newer modern design. Would appreciate if keeping longer than a few years.

I picked up the base M2 Air a couple months back, it's a great little machine with excellent battery life.

It's still ahead of its time imo. If you're not a power user, it's a great deal ATM.
