Is AT&T really that bad?

Looking to switch from Sprint to AT&T for their $800 iPhone 12 trade in deal. I’ll also get a plan discount due to my employer.
I’ve researched past threads on here and 90% of people shite on them. Is their service that terrible? For reference I’m in St Charles Parish. According to their coverage map looks like 5G extends out here.

It's not quite as good as Verizon in Baton Rouge but it's probably the 2nd best from a coverage standpoint. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired but I rarely ever have to call them anyway.
I've been a customer since it was AT&T before they sold it to Cingular and later bought it back from them.

Trying to reach customer service is their main drawback. It is horrible.

I’ve had zero issues with AT&T. They have great coverage everywhere I have lived. My wife had sprint when we got married and we first lived in Florida and there were a lot of spots she had no bars.
A big plus is that I had no issues throughout Laura and delta while people with other services did, especially sprint. They were also quick to get mobile cell towers out here to provide additional coverage in the area which was great.
I’ve also never had an issue with customer service that some people have had.
Honestly, just don’t get sprint

The problem comes in when you have issues. Actual cell service isn’t bad. I had issues with a BOGO iPhone deal that got screwed up and wouldn’t honor until I filed a BBB complaint. Luckily I had all the pertinent info documented and saved.

Had AT&T for 20 years. Never had any major issues. Never really had trouble calling them when I had minor issues either.

I have not given AT&T a dime since 2016, and I refuse to give them another dime ever again.
My former employer hand AT&T landlines, and while it was a small business that hardly matters to them, it was still a business account and you would expect to be treated as a valuable customer. Long story short, there was some old equipment servicing the area, and they knew it was old and failing (they serviced it 3 months prior) and did nothing about it until it failed completely. So it required a part that had to ship from overseas, and the company was without phones and fax for 6 straight days.
Customer service was a nightmare. I spent probably 15 hours on the phone with them that week, which was fricking difficult with no phones. They always ask for a callback number in case we get disconnected, and I had to tell them don't worry about it because we also had AT&T cell service and it was fricking awful.
They offered to give us a 6 day credit on the bill, and I laughed at that HARD. I told them we weren't paying one red cent for that month, and they could send that shite to collections if they want to. I talked to so many reps I would just immediately say "escalate!". They kept sending me to retentions when I tried to cancel, lo-fricking-l. Finally "the office of the president" contacted me, credited the whole bill plus some, so they mailed us a check.
Switched to Cox.
Can't afford to deal with that type of incompetence. They knew their shite was failing, and they knew it would take a week to get the part, and they still waited until it failed to order it. They're too busy trying to sign up new customers to take care of the ones they have.
Never again, and never been happier.

ATT works well for cell service. I don’t think I have had many issues ever since I was a Cingular customer.
As others have stated customer service is bad.
Att home internet I would stay away from , although their fiber service seems to be consistent as compared to their other trash.

Thanks all. Looks like I’ll sign the wife and I up for the new iPhone trade in deal. Basically getting two 12s for free with a new unlimited plan. My employer knocks $10 off per line so it’ll be $130/month. Not bad for their top tier service.

They all suck. Just find the one that works where you will be most of the time, i.e. home, work.

No issues with AT&T in my area. Have had them for several years an no complaints.

It works well, no issues here. I’d go for the upgrade promo if i were you
What Ive found is make sure you have a good AT&T company retail store close by that you can rely on. Their downfall is the overseas call centers
Make sure its a company owned and not authorized retailer. Those guys can be hit or miss.

Yes, I loathe AT&T, had to transfer my daughters phone from her ex-fiancé and it took 2 weeks because they couldn’t get their shite straight. Had to go into the store, because the online and calls to support didn’t work and still took 3 hours out of my day today. F them.

Probably depends on where you live, but I’ve had them for so long they were Cingular when we first joined, and haven’t had any issues.
