Is Asus support that bad?

I am looking for a new laptop and I really like the Asus Zephyrus.

When I started looking at reviews, the machine reviews are great then everyone slams the service. I can find mention of service issues in 2024 but is it really that bad? I can't say I have had good computer service ever, but I don't want especially bad service. I typically don't buy extended warranties, but if I get a dud I would like to get it fixed or replaced reasonably easily.

My LG gram has been fine since before covid, but as you can imagine it is ending its useful life for anything other than getting on TD and checking my AOL mail.

Last year ASUS replaced my dead year old NUC without any problems. They paid shipping both ways and I had it back in around 10 days.

Asus laptops are usually junk which is weird because a lot of what Asus makes and supports is great. I have a crappy 12th gen Vivobook that is the home backup now and Asus literally went out of their way to defeat features that the board and chips natively support.

I’d just stick to latitudes for laptops because they’re by far the easiest to get parts for and troubleshoot. No OEM support needed. If you use windows, their certified drivers are a huge plus too.

I've had to have computer service (over a HDD) once in 15 years. What are you actually worried about?

So I don't like the ASUS as much as I thought.

Looking at the legion 7a and the acer predator neos 16s.

Modern naming is deceptive, changing one letter in the past meant a different processor, gpu or something, now its a completely difference chassis.

I ended up with a Legion 7i. 5060/32gb/OLED for $1300 in a premium chassis was too much to pass up.
