I am used to paying with BTC, but I am encountering services that use Square (Google Pay, credit card, or Cash App). I'm always very concerned about privacy, security, and confidentiality. Any opinion on the available payment methods I've mentioned?
I use Google Wallet which generates a virtual card number (via communication with CC issuer) for almost all of my non-reoccurring online purchases. Different account and CCV number each time.

I do the same but with capital one Eno

You can get a cashapp card that only pulls from your cashapp balance. I keep just enough to cover any time I use it

Edit sober rewrite:
Went with PIA. Seems good. Exceeds expectations.
You can build custom playlist inside PIA account but only one playlist so I use m3ueditor docker to build multiple custom playlists. It also acts as stream proxy so I don’t need threadfin or dispatch. EPG from PIA matches 90+% and super easy to fix the rest inside m3ueditor docker. Great GUI. A couple logo are wrong but I don’t care.
I’m pretty sure jellyfin lets me pick which account can use which playlist but I might need multiple jellyfin instances. No big deal.
Now for the bad:
I can’t get series to show up at all inside m3ueditor docker, everything shows as channels and not VOD, plus most VOD doesn’t play correctly with default ffmpeg settings in m3u editor, transcoding allowed or not allowed in jellyfin and roku ultra player. The main goal was TV anyway but the bonus VOD is a bust for me. Even on PIA site, most movies and shows I searched were not available so have to do this another way instead of spending days to fix. Prob works fine in their smarters app but I’m but not buying android boxes.

Also jellyfin live tv is garbage.
My first big playlist was obviously crap and messy. Thought I could just remove it and do a cleanup. Nope. Replace with 15 channel playlist but still have a thousand zombie channels hanging around. There may have still been some from months-ago long deleted crap. Had to purge entire jellyfin install. Working now but very dissatisfied. Plex requires pass for live TV so not trying that yet.
I can definitely recommend the docker m3u-editor though for editing, mapping, and proxy, at least for live channels.
Might work better if I use xtreme plugin and import as a hardware tuner.

Looking for something as well. Prefer Roku based but can fire up the nvidia shield if need be. If someone has some invites or recommendations, the contact is ps3hgtv at the g
Thanks.
I do have Plex, Plex server, and Plex pass as well.

I finally figured out why I can't use a custom XML guide with Plex. If you have a tuner already in place (I have an HD Homerun) that uses plex's guide, all tuners have to use plex's built in guides

The easiest way is sign up for PIA, use their built-in web-based playlist editor, then use their xtreme api to hook into roku’s xtreme player.
I’m going for a local proxy solution and it’s driving me nuts but I’m almost there. Tuner emulation supposedly works way better than playlists on media servers. We shall see. sparkison editor has been great though.

With the problems you've had, it probably would have been best to not cheap out and just get a Plex pass lifetime sub

Probably! Or at least ditch the Rokus and get tivimate. Really it’s just because the wife does UX for a living and everything needs to be perfect or it’s trash. She loves frigate and home assistant though so I think I can get our TV up to that level.

Tivimate is so good. Love how you can do multiple screens just like in YouTube TV

Do you have in invite?

@vrai
Would love an invite... not a bot (yes, I know that is what a bot would say).

Can confirm Jellyfin really really sucks for live TV but I have many Roku devices so I made it work.
Tried 20 roku iptv and xtream apps. Most are copies of one another. Some are scams. Fake VLC, fake smarters, things like that. Waste of time. Roku can’t map network drives for DVR anyway.
Jellyfin.Xtream plugin works fine for VOD and series. Regular live TV only gave me a guide via m3u and xmltv but there is no reliable way to purge old metadata so you end up with another channel copy on the guide when you make changes. It’s a mess.
Glad I built a up super solid middleware via sparkinson m3u editor. Easy enough to just wipe jellyfin data completely and rebuild. All guide maps, logos, playlists, channel maps, etc. stay in the middleware.
End result is a nice TV setup with DVR that is fully modular and works on any device, anywhere via https. Good enough. Rather have tivimate for sure.

Dude, why are you wasting your time with odds and ends. Just get a reliable one that people have already vouched for?
Posted on 11/3/25 at 9:36 pm to touchdownjeebus
Using PIA for service. It’s great.
I was going on about getting a solid proxy and roku solution set up with long rewind/scrubbing, full DVR, perfect guide, several streams, and ability to share different playlists with different users without granting account access. Anything less wouldn’t cut it here.
