After the 10,000th time I cast Netflix to one of the kids' rooms and then later when I'm in the room and have no clue where the phone is I picked up the Hisense tv remote and hit pause while rolling my eyes and looking at my wife exasperated.

It fricking paused the movie.

Did everyone else in the world but me know the TV remote works with Chromecast? When did that happen?

Is it fully operational? Fast forward, rewind?

Maybe it's something new they've added. I rarely use my chromecast so I don't really keep up with new features.

Just checked. Only play, pause and stop work on my Hisense remote. It ignores ffwd, rwd and restart. I don't have a Chromecast on the Vizio so I'll test the Samsung next.

Amazon FireStick does the same thing. For those that don't know what CEC is, it allows electronics to talk to each other through the HDMI cables. Remote commands are one example. When I turn on my bluray player, my TV automatically switches inputs. That's another example.

i just bought a cheap tv at walmart. had no idea it would allow me to ditch the phone for basic chromecast control. very nice find.

I was just wondering if it would turn on the tv when I fling something to the chrome cast. Of course the one on the living room wouldn't work because it's getting power from the tv but I think it might work if the chrome cast has an independent power source.

sure do. none of my kids' tvs have any sort of input except a cheap chromecast so if they want to watch something i have to agree to it and i fling it to their tvs with my phone.

works very VERY well. they get a tv in their room, i get to say when its ON.

Is this related to something else I've noticed?: If someone else in my house is casting, it will show me that on my phone.

I have no idea why anyone would buy a chromecast. Makes zero sense to me.

I have zero idea why anyone would not. Especially if they are andoid users. Please explain your stance

I have not simply because I would only use it for WatchESPN, and that's just not enough reason when I can either run a cord from my tablet, or just watch the games on my tablet.

lets be clear we are talking about an investment of $30 here...if i used it 4 times in its life it would be worth it. easy to travel with and use at hotels. I can stream most any movie/show in the world to my TV in seconds using CAST-R app and yesmovies.to

If you cant find enough uses for your chromecast you simply don't know enough about using the chromecast

Explain to me a cheaper/better/more elegant alternative to control when my kids use their tvs?

wow so much easier. Netflix, Spotify, local cast, turning on cast screen and opening the camera app while you and the wife are being intimate..

You don't watch movies or listen to music?

What do you use your tvs for?
