I use to be a cord cutter (for a week)

Have a roku premiere I'm trying to get rid of. any of you cord cutters on here willing to buy it? its practically brand new

Watched the LSU game with my retired dad who is a cord cutter with SlingTV.
Most of the 3rd and 4th quarter was either buffered or like watching the game thru an aquarium. Not sure if it was Sling or his internet but it was painful.
Can’t say I blame you for going back.

i got direct tv and uverse internet for $90/month locked for 2 years. i get 4 receivers at no extra cost, dvr included, local channels, excellent picture quality, NFL sunday ticket for those 2 years (i had to wheel and deal on this one because they messed up install the first time) and that price includes taxes and fees.
when i cut the cord, everything about it sucked. antenna worked when it wanted to and half the time i couldn't catch cbs. the quality was spotty at best. this was after numerous set ups and different antennas i went through.
then i tried kodi and that was a nightmare. stream works, stream doesn't work, exodus is down so download whatever else it was at the time. update this, update that. fix this code, download that code.
cord cutting is the future but it is nowhere near where it needs to be for me to ever go back.
all the streaming services got more expensive and the interfaces sucked. data caps, no dvr, no sunday ticket, etc. i hated cutting the cord

that cable is a lot more convenient than streaming services even though it comes with a "higher" price

Did you ever figure out the issue? Antennas are pretty simple devices, so not sure why you had so much trouble.

Kodi sucks. It is not the way or what I would point to as “cord cutting”. It’s a nice feature to have, but overly complicated and unreliable.

Which service were you on? How much were you paying?
I pay $45/mo for PSVue, it’s interface is fine, has an unlimited cloud DVR, and access to CBS.
I was watching the game Saturday at a buddies house with DirectTV. There was a slight wind and light drizzle, and his feed kept freezing up. Missed at least 1 TD.
Streaming services are certainly different, but I don’t think they’re as complicated as many make it out to be. It actually simplified my setup a bit since now all my services are on one device (FireTV). It’s not the answer for everyone, it just deprends on what’s the most important.

Visiting in Metairie - homeowner has Cox 60 / 5 Internet plan.
We watched the LSU / Ole Miss game through Sling on a new quad core Fire Stick. I also watched the Astros / Yankees on a Chromebook.
Zero issues. I cycled power and rebooted all devices prior to game time.

I hate on it more than I should, but cord cutting just isn’t there for me yet. Maybe one day when this contract is up in 2 years I’ll give it another shot but it’s too much hassle for me right now.
I had an ATV4 & DTV Now when I was streaming. DTV now wasn’t that great, but I couldn’t justify the $ each month when cable was just a better option all around (for me).
That is what was so frustrating. The antenna had to be close to my door for it to pick up channels and I didn’t like that sticking out all the time. Then I tried one in the attic and that was just a total failure. Couldn’t ever get a stable signal for some reason no matter where I put it.

Cost of service Streaming
Cost was the only factor where streaming wins over cable/satellite but that's changing. Vue has already gone up and Netflix is coming soon. I switched back and it's costing me about $15 more per month but it's worth it for me personally. I support what the cord cutters are doing (with the exception of those still using mommy and daddy's logins) but it's just not for me.

If you're going to rely on the internet, then do it right. I ran ethernet cords to my important tvs. I invested in a modem and a router worth a shite. I don't have issues with streaming anything, except the damn foxsportsgo app, which is shite.

With Vue raising prices, im very tempted to pick up Cox again. theyve been sending me little cards to get TV at a similar price + free internet upgrade

Yeah that's what i thought. $90 for internet and cable. Then the bill was $117 when i got it, and i only had 1 HD reciever and no DVR.
I had cable for 3 weeks and cancelled it. It's the reciever fees that get you, and DVR and HD and all the other stupid arse fees that you don't have with Sling or Vue.

I feel like people who do the best with cord cutting are hobbyists who enjoy finding ways to recreate or exceed the cable experience while saving money.
For me, TV is just something I want to do when done with work. I don't want to work at it, I just want it to work. I don't want to run new ethernet around my house. I don't want rely on an antenna or apps.
But I am thankful that some people are invested in this, because in the long run it'll probably help all of us.

Sling sucks. I know it works fine for some people but for most people it is a buffering nightmare. I had zero problem with PSVUE although I haven't tried it this year so I don't know if their servers have held up to the increased demand.
