no locals

He said he wanted locals from Little Rock, not Dallas? I understand your point, which is why I'm confused. If I want to watch Notre Dame, there is always an ABC affiliate, even in the middle of nowhere in South Texas. That's why I'm confused.

Honestly locals only matter to me for football season. Glad to know I’ll still catch locals. My biggest issue with going with Hulu as far as I know is that you can’t watch on a smart tv away from home. You can only stream through a device.

Seriously, why does anyone care about local stations?

My Little Rock locals will broadcast SEC games. If there's Big XII games on in the same time slot that ABC/NBC, etc. is also carrying and I'm pinging a Dallas IP address, I'd be forced to get those games instead of SEC games.

If SEC football is on, I'm watching it. I don't want to watch other limp noodle conference football, unless it's all that's on.

In those situations you can still view those SEC games on ABC through the ESPN app using your YTTV account credentials.

What about the other non-ABC affiliates?

Can you stream through a laptop connected to your TV via HDMI?

ABC is the only one that does regional broadcasts anymore.

Yeah I can, but the wife isn't playing that shite

The only reason why I haven't pull away from Directv is because she is so set on the layout of Directv. I'm trying to convince her that she will get the operating system of YouTubeTV.

Have you looked at DirecTV stream with their streaming box? It works EXACTLY like direcTV satellite (including same channel numbers) and you can take it anywhere. You also get a lot of stream freedom. You can share it easily. AND you always get your home locals no matter where you are.

The only real downside to directv stream (other than price) is the lack of user profiles, IMO. It has great video and audio quality.

I have not. I'm going to have to look into it. I have been curious about it. Is the price comparable to what you normally pay for Directv? We're paying $140 for 2 DVR's and 1 regular box and the sports package.

I'm not too familiar with pricing but you dont have to pay for extra boxes because you can use any typical streaming device like apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, etc. if you prefer. DVR is included but I dont know if it is unlimited DVR these days or not.

Can someone help me understand how I can work this stuff to my advantage regarding local channels for watching the Saints? I live out of state and want to watch NOLA locals to catch Saints games, but still be able to catch some HI local channels. Is that possible? VPN? Please explain to a somewhat tech chanllenged person.

Use an antenna for your HI local channels and split a DirecTV stream subscription with someone who lives in New Orleans.

I'm almost at the point of dropping HULU. I like it, but enough is enough with the price increases.

YTV is sure to follow suit.

Yep that’s why I haven’t dropped Directv yet! You can bet your arse that YTTV will be next and they’ll all be up to the $120+ before long. I read something a while back about how all these streaming services are pulling everyone in with low prices, then they will start increasing their prices. All these local and network channels aren’t cheap and they’ll continue to squeeze every cable, satellite and streaming service.
