ditors doing on site visits. They have zero need for file system access. They just have a need to receive and handle-and perhaps manipulate-a simple .txt or .csv file.

As an auditor at a few companies, this has zero chance of happening in the real world.

It's going to be Windows

Auditors love USBs and projectors. Yeah, they'd LOVE an iPad.

I can't see any major company switching their entire system like that, especially from the people actually calling the shots.

In the real world, auditors who don't need file system access rely on the secure web portal like you mentioned. Why would they be getting a iPad Pro or a SP3? What a terrible example.

I mean, if that's all they need, then why spend 1k on a tablet when a $300 PC will do just fine?

That is a real world example, homes. It's why they put the kibosh on the SP's w/WiFi cards. But tell me more about your vast expertise on this subject. LOL.

Anyone care to make a wager with me that the iPad pro outsells the SP3 this holiday quarter?

I'm a system admin and get audited regularly by SOx and NERC. A 1k iPad would be a huge waste and it will not happen.

truly it takes a special kind of dumbass to pay $1079 for a 13" tablet that only has 128gb of storage and runs on fricking apps and has no full size USB -

Do you honestly think the pro and the pen and the keyboard have nothing to do with competing with the SP3?
You think they do? It's the iPad with a bigger screen and a pen and keyboard for another $250. How does that all of the sudden make it an SP3 competitor? Jesus people.

I'm an SP3 owner. I have a handful of friends who also own SP3s, and I'm aware of only one who uses it as a business machine. The others, like myself, use theirs as a travel computer, a supplementary computer, or a more productive tablet.
You think the iPad Pro is meant to be more than an iPad outside of a bigger screen? You do know keyboards and pens have already been available for it?

I don't know what you're looking for here. It's weird that you won't acknowledge the pro is an attempt to take on the SP3. I promise, even if you do so, it doesn't mean you're pledging loyalty to Apple, you're just acknowledging what is a blatantly obvious strategy by Apple to move into the space occupied by Microsoft.

Yes, I'm aware there are pens and keyboards for iPads, but quite obviously Apple is actually investing in making these more usable for various purposes now. It's a significant jump.

I'm not going to buy one, I think they're overpriced, and I like my SP3 just fine. But that in no way means I'm going to deny that it'll compete with the SP3 for a considerable segment of users.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiice. ISWYDT. I agree. They were looking at iPad Mini's and iPad's when they first reviewed the order.

But nice try. Oh and I agree re: the 1K cost of an iPad. Outside of highly specialized technical fields and the arts and/or education, this one won't appeal to anyone other than the upper crust.

So without reading 9 pages is Apple TV still garbage or have they finally come out with a Sling TV like plan?

Your question is kind of flawed. They did not announce a streaming TV service, however, Apple TV is no longer garbage. It has finally caught up with the other streaming boxes after several years of not updating.

Note the copyright and the accuracy of the prediction. They got everything but the venue right. Pretty damn prescient. Even pro-Apple people have got to see the humor in this. If nothing else, Ballmer.

I'm extremely deep in apple's ecosystem. Iphones, iPads, AppleTV, MBP, and 27" iMac. Just because I can recognize the iPad Pro as nothing more than a larger iPad, doesn't mean I'm an apple hater. Why is it all of the sudden an SP3 challenger? Because the screen is bigger? The price? That's the only difference from the ipad air other than upped specs... which I'm sure the next air will get.

Examples? How is it "more usable"?

An active and dedicated stylus with support from Apple that will almost certainly spur a lot of development for its use?

A dedicated and usable keyboard to combine with increased access to productivity-oriented applications?

I use my SP3 in the following ways:

1) Secondary computer for work, almost entirely for Word/Excel/email
2) Secondary computer for browsing/entertainment because I like the addition of a touch screen and keyboard (makes message board browsing easier, for example)
3) Note taking

I'm guessing a lot of people use their SP3 in the same manner. So while I'm not going to pay 1300 bucks for that from Apple, what about my SP3 usage couldn't I replicate with the iPad Pro?
