Got a frame tv... what to do about PS controllers not working with console in other room?

Not sure if this belongs on tech or gaming board. I got a Samsung frame tv which looks amazing and the whole purpose of it would be lost if I didn’t run all the cables and devices into the room behind the living room. My PS4 is plugged into the spare room behind the living room and my PS4 responds horribly to my PS4 controller when I tried playing a game from the couch in my living room. It’s not the distance because in my old house I was the same distance away from console with no issues so it is obviously the wall causing the interference and poor connection from console to controller.

Anyone know of a work around? Considering a PS5. Would I have the same issue with that console and the controllers or is it a different technology and controller would work on that console?

Pics for your troubles. Comes with 20 preloaded pics

Can use your own pics too.. took this one on my honeymoon and tv settings matted my pics itself to fill out to frame

Ha thanks man! Just put it up yesterday. We probably spent as much time looking at it in art mode as we did watching college football. It’s the nicest tv I’ve owned IMO. We had our parents over and in laws already decided they’re getting one for Christmas

So is the TV basically always 'on'? Does it dim or turn itself off in dark room or at night?

To answer your question I don't know anything definitive but you could look and see if there exists an external Bluetooth adapter for ps4. You could then run one end in an inconspicuous place in the TV room and run a USB cable through the wall

Why on earth earn it if you can’t enjoy it? I have a giant 75in Sony that I love, but as far as aesthetics, you got me beat by a mile.

Might be a hassle but can’t you make it a wired controller with usb?

You could run a usb through your wall into a wall plate behind your preferred seat on the couch. Plug in a shorter usb to the plate when you want to play

Edit: if you really wanted to go wireless you could plug this Adapter into the wall plate, or another adapter out there

Thanks I’m going to look into this. Have already considered moving the PS4 into my office and turning it into an office/game room but not sure how my work would feel about that

I’ll try checking into this first instead.

When the lights in a room turn on or someone walks through the living room it turns on. After 15 minutes of no motion or lights turning off, the art mode turns off and it goes fully off.

The art mode seems like a low power mode. It brightens if all lights are on and dims to match the room when lights are turned off

Eta the timing can be manually adjusted. I set it to turn off completely 15 min after lights are turned off. I also set it to cycle through our selected favorite pieces and it will stay on each for 5 min before cycling to the next piece.

My niece came over today and asked if it was real or a tv. That’s the responses we were looking for

I have a similar setup with PS5 & Series X sitting in the closet behind the wall that my TV is mounted on. I have zero lag.

I did not have that same setup when my PS4 was my main console, so cant answer that part right now. I still have my PS4 though so I can try at some point and let you know. I'll do it tonight if I think about it.

That frame tv looks legit. Good job with that setup.

Thanks that would be very helpful in figuring out if it’s the console and if moving to a PS5 would help!

Samsung website

Can buy for 33% off right now through Black Friday. I got 33% off, and got a free $150 frame at checkout by using promo code 2021FRAMEBEZEL

Y’all are welcome

If you’re considering buying I’d do it soon. Good discount and may have shortages around holidays. I got free shipping and it was delivered 2 days later. I did pay $200 to have it professionally installed though. It didn’t seem overly difficult if you’re handy but I never would’ve been able to do it myself. Chose pro installation at checkout and they were at my house within a week.

While they look really cool, the actual TV is a so-so Samsung TV with a couple of extra features in a nice looking package that allows them to jack up the price.

Thats one of the things I was going to look into when I test my ps4 from another room tonight. I am not too sure of the response time/input lag of the frame tv. It might just be a really bad tv to game on in general which could cause a slight lag by itself before even adding in any possible connection interference between controller & console.

i have one, you can leave it on tv, picture frame or compeltely off.

i have an actual frame around mine too. most people do not believe its a tv when i have the portrait mode on until i show it to them

OP: did you not have entertainment cabinet to run everything too? We have built ins on each side of the fire place and we put the main part of the tv in there.

for those wondering, the frame tv is essentially just a flat screen that looks like a picture frame. it has one plug in the back that is vertical about half way up. The main controller or guts of the tv is in a seperate box that connects via the one thin wire to the main frame part. all connections are on the secondary box.

btw the tv has a great picture both tv and portrait mode. and portrait mode does dim a good bit, looks like a real picture.

i have one of the deco tv frames around mine.

I got the 55” since that looks best over our fireplace. Since it’s above the fireplace we don’t have an entertainment center underneath tv.

The fireplace sticks out and if I went any bigger it would be too close to the edges of the fireplace so I used that excuse to justify not going any bigger. The price jumps $500 for each size up and the 55” looks great where we have it so I’m just as happy with it.
