Philo TV seems like an incredible deal at 16/20 bucks a month...I did the 7 day free trial and it worked flawlessly and comes with a DVR as well. The one main drawback is absolutely no sports channels...but if you can bum an ESPN login off someone it would work out

Got the email

DIRECTV NOW? is now offering two all-new packages, PLUS and MAX. Each package has a different channel lineup than what you currently have, and both include HBO®.

Go Big is yours to hang on to even though it is no longer available to new customers. However, because programming costs continue to rise, this package will be increasing $10/mo beginning with your 05/09/2019 payment.

The price of HBO® is also increasing, but as a current subscriber, you’ll see no changes in your premium channel pricing.

To see if these packages are a better fit, check out our comparison tool to help make the differences clear. If you do choose a new package, you won’t be able to get Go Big back.

Thank you for streaming with us.

Sincerely,
Your DIRECTV NOW Team

I just don’t understand what they are going for. You might as well go back to cable for the price they are charging. They do have a promo the month of March for new subscribers get a month free trial. That’s going to work out for me perfectly because my month free trial with sling is up at the end of March. So I’ll get a free month of tv and hbo while GoT is on

I have HBO w/ DTVN for $5 a month though. No one is saying there is a better deal, still, than the grandfathered deal w/ HBO for $55.

that said
This deal is getting better, maybe it’s better if I go back to Cox

. $109 deal bur around $146 after taxes etc

Yep, got it this morning as well. The new packages drop a bunch of channels, many I don't ever watch, but some I do - Comedy Central, Food Network, etc. Also drop HGTV which the wife watches. I already have an HBOGo login so don't need it in a new package.

Guess I'll start looking for a new service. Wife will be pissed with no HGTV on YouTubeTV, unless they've recently added it.

The problem is this will get exponentially more expensive after the 2 years. I'm not die hard DTVnow but I can live with a $10/month increase being grandfathered in to the old package option, as opposed to getting a good deal for 2 years then having to play the game with them again. I like the old package I have so I'm hanging in there. Hopefully, DTVnow doesn't start this crap because if they do, i'm gone.

What the hell, neither of these new packages have AMC, comedy central, cooking channel, food network, HGTV, MTV, NFL network, nickelodeon, travel channel. I mean what the hell? I'd have to get the $70 one to make sure I had SEC network.

I have the 3 streams and HBO added so I'd be up to $85/month if I stayed pat.

Apparently YTV is $40 but you'd have to get HBO now which I think it's $17/month. So I'd need to see what channels I'm losing going down to basically $60/month making that switch.

My question would be how long do they let these grandfathered packages stick around for?

Thats where I'm concerned. If it continues down this path of content providers streaming their own content, it can only get more expensive until it fails, like another poster mentioned. I just don't know what my breaking point will be.

Do most of y’all keep HBO year around or y’all giving it up after GoT? Does HBO have that much content that it’s worth 17 dollars a month?

I have been playing the shuffle games for years, I am aware of that. I think getting those rates locked in for 2 years w/ the movie channels in a solid deal.

I've kept it with DTVN since it was only $5 extra. Has good movies that come out and other shows. I'd probably be more choosy if had to go HBON

The increase is for new customers. Your plan should stay the same. This is what I was told when I contacted them to cancel.

The biggest difference for me is not the cost of programming, but the rental of the cable/satellite boxes. I currently have 7 TVs in my house, but we never really use more than 2 or 3 at a time. So streaming works for me as long as I have a firestick or roku on each tv. With Directv or Cox, I'd spend an extra $50-60 bucks a month on rentals. If I were single and only needed 1 or 2 TVs, I'd easily have directv like I did 3 years ago.

I'm strongly considering YouTube TV along with the $16 Philo package...$56 and I believe that offers more than any current streaming service

A lot of people do this but it seems like a pain in the arse to have 2 separate services.

I signed up earlier and it’s a breeze to switch between the two, especially on Apple TV

That's not what my email said. It said I can keep my current plan, but the price was going to $50 per month regardless.

Maybe it depends on what plan you currently have. I have the Just Right plan. They said no changes. Obama also said I can keep my doctor. So I guess we will see.
