Our friend's husband has the Ring app on his phone but will not cooperate in transferring it. Our friend is thinking she may have to take out the Ring system and get a new one.

Does anyone have ideas on whether she could transfer the app to her phone without the husband's help?

TIA

Has your friend tried to do a hard reset and redo the set-up?

No, I'm trying to help her, but I have no idea how to do what you're suggesting.

Take the cover off.

Push the button you can see now for 15 seconds.

Follow normal set up directions.

This, create new account, run setup on all ring devices. App will run you though setting them all up when you try and add them. Super intuitive app.

Once you get the covers off, they all have QR codes to scan to set them up. She can forcibly (figuratively speaking) remove the device from the current account and pair it with a new account.

Just did it when I bought a house a few months ago (not that the sellers were dicks or anything; it's just how you do it )

ETA: Because all that shite is interchangeable in my head, to be clear: I just did that with Nest devices. I assume Ring is fairly similar, but your mileage may vary.

There are two very small screws on the bottom of the Ring that hold it in it's case. Unscrew those and the Ring will lift up and off. There is an orange button on the back to reset. Google is your friend so look there for more guidance and procedure relative the the specific Ring she has. Very easy process.

I'd also change the password on the router/modem. That way he will not be able to come back and just join the new set-up. And, make sure it's a password that he can't guess (no birthdays, important dates, etc.).

Of course, this is probably something she should have already done.

All ring equipement has a hard reset button on it. hold it in with a paperclip or similar and wait until the light blinks.
Then create your own account and enroll the devices.

I know a guy who used to crank up the heat to 80 on his ex via nest thermostat. I’m not sure how long it took her to figure it out.
