Per their Twitter account.

I just switched to Clear Choice a few months ago and have been happy. I hope Eatel doesn't frick it up.
Anybody with Eatel care to share their experience?

Only have Eatel internet, but it's cheaper than Cox, and I very rarely have any issues. Super happy with them for almost 8 years.

Data cap? Speed/price?

No data cap for me
speed: 50GBs
$65
straight fiber with an ethernet port acting as your "handoff"
You can literally run speedtest.net from a laptop directly connected to their port.
the one complaint I have is Eatel tech support is fine for outages but other higher level issues tend to be met with frustration.
They will disable your connection if they detect illegal downloading so be sure to use VPN if you use torrent sites.
Kodi can be run without issue.

No data cap that I'm aware of. I think I have the standard, which is 50 down/ 25 up for $73/month.

Same here but I pay $75 I believe.
Only issue I ever had with them was on their Lightwave. But the customer service both in person and phone were always pleasant.

I run a VPN for Kodi when I use it. Have they ever said anything about this questioning your use of a VPN? Or is VPN usage sorta fairly commonly used?

I pay $74 for 100 down / 50 up with EATEL.
I use a VPN (PIA) almost all the time. No issues with torrents.
Customer service is fantastic. Service rarely and I do mean rarely goes out.

quote:Ugh, I hate to hear this. Hopefully they only do this at the request of copyright holders, and they aren't "proactive" about it. If they do it without being asked to, that means they either stop all torrenting (I do a lot of legal torrenting), or they are inspecting your packets (that ain't right).

If I get cut off I'm going to be one pissed off customer.

I've been disconnected once. Why? It was before I started using a VPN.
I really needed to secure my network better than "Linksys" for WiFi name and "linksys" for my password.
EATEL "helped" me make my network secure and since then, I haven't had a problem keeping my neighbor's son out and off of my network.

No warnings
They are proactive. I doubt they are "inspecting packets".
They probably have a trigger on their router that if a client requests to connect to certain known sites to go ahead and disable their service. It doesn't happen on the first connection. It is usually after 2-3 times.
My son got us disco'd for trying to download movies one time. It took a phone call and verbal assurances we won't do it again. They threatened that if we are caught doing it again they may discconnect the service permanently
Again, VPN and you are fine

I use IPTorrents and haven't had any problems. I don't know if it's because I don't do a lot of it, or if they aren't watching that one.

No, I was out of state for work and my wife called me to let me know the internet wasn't working. I called EATEL on 3 way and they "helped" us.
My wife knew what to do. :-)

BC VPNs are used for legitimate purposes, not just for hiding your IP.

Plenty of legit uses for torrents.
But, considering most legit uses of VPNs are for work/business purposes, sounds like a good way to force users to business class service.
